I do that too. Even if he's just marking on a tree he at least gets a "good boy" if not a hole "pee party."

This is soooooooooooo funny...They really do fake going potty, for the treat...My little Buzz will go out and throw his leg up, for one second, then come running back in, looking for a treat...Honestly, he knows what he's doing!!!! But, iatyq...I take mine out about every 4 hrs....They go longer, if I'm out and about, but this is the "when mommy is home schedule"...Buzz can go for hrs., but, honestly, Apple needs a break every 5 hrs., at least...And she's over 2 yrs. old! Just a tiny bladder, I guess...lol...

LOL, pee party! I give pee parties if I get a dance -- the leg kicking thing. It's humiliating standing there saying, "Yeehaw! Yahoo! Alright, yeah!," but it makes the boys happy.

totally agree- I HATE litter (and I have cats- lol- just the worst part of having them). I wish I could pad train the cats

I switched to washables and am not having this issue at all. I *think* the problem is more that they are confused when they are first learning. I used disposables when I was teaching them and they still would use area rugs as wee wee pads- but now that they are totally trained on the pads and have no accidents- they no longer confuse them for rugs. I have two pads in my place- one in the bathroom and than one in the corner of the room they get locked in when I am not home- because they don't have access to the bathroom when I am gone. They will only go in one of those two places. I now have a couple of rugs again and they have never mistaken them for the pads.
