totally agree- I HATE litter (and I have cats- lol- just the worst part of having them). I wish I could pad train the cats

I switched to washables and am not having this issue at all. I *think* the problem is more that they are confused when they are first learning. I used disposables when I was teaching them and they still would use area rugs as wee wee pads- but now that they are totally trained on the pads and have no accidents- they no longer confuse them for rugs. I have two pads in my place- one in the bathroom and than one in the corner of the room they get locked in when I am not home- because they don't have access to the bathroom when I am gone. They will only go in one of those two places. I now have a couple of rugs again and they have never mistaken them for the pads.
