This is what it said in the article I cited: Q: Do dogs suffer emotionally from debarking? A: It is a huge myth to suggest dogs are emotionally disturbed by debarking. Debarked dogs can bark. Even if reduced sound comes out of their mouths, they don't seem to notice at all! Debarked dogs that are not being constantly disciplined for barking, in fact, tend to be much happier dogs! I wonder if it is really true? |

You are beyond sweet!!!!! That isn't necessary! But if you're serious, thank you SO much!! Hubby sees how upset I am over all this, and he may be coming around..lol Hoping I have good news tomorrow!! Thanks! oh, and as far as making any noise, she said you can hear her making noises, but almost like when someone has laryngitis..a muted kind of sound? |

I just don't buy it that they do not suffer emotionally if de-barked sugically. Yorkies are a very "vocal" breed as many of us know. If I were born without speech, I probably would never know the difference other than i had a mouth that longed to speak but couldnt for some strange reason. I just think its a terrible thing to do. And I for one wouldn't go to any vet that I found out would do the procedure for anyone. My sister is all into large breeds. When she got her dobie pup last year she had a terrible time finding a vet in our area that would even crop the ears. Tail docking is another thing...when done correctly and to the correct length, there is still enough tail left for the dog to wag. I'm not an advocate for tail docking so i won't say anymore. Spaying and neutering is done to prevent un-wanted pregnancies which I do promote. De-barking is just in-sane in my opinion. |

And at least we HAD a voice when we had our tonsils out .....so we could whine and cry about it for WEEKS if we wanted to these little guys have that taken away - so not only are they hurt & probably in pain but they probably can't even cry.... :( :( :( |
