And for anyone thinking that it would be cute to let their little darling have " just one litter" please read this first.

The puppies must have been really small if the mom was 4.5 pounds. How much do the puppies usually weigh at birth?

Hi, welcome to YorkieTalk. Puppies can vary greatly on their birth size. They could be as small as two ozs or as big a 8 ozs, give or take a little. It really depends on the parent's genetics and how many are in the litter. Puppies that come from a large litter tend to be smaller in size versus litters that consist of only 1 or two puppies.
