Try a different rescue. Seriously. We were turned down by several before we adopted Riley. We just had to find the right doggie, I guess. Not that it matters, but Riley actually sounds like the perfect dog to meet your requirements.

We were turned down because we have too many pets already. We have a large home a 7 food privacy fence a finished heated basement for the cats. We were turned down because we had too many pets so actually it turned out okay because we kind of did a rescue when we came across Oliver who was abandoned by his owner with his three sisters. Long story short all the puppies were adopted on the spot within 10 minutes of finding them. So I guess I did my own rescue. btw Our cats have the run of the house with the dogs and everybody gets along great. Youre right about one thing. With all the dogs that needs rescues you'd think they would be more flexable.

Yeah, the rescues in our area will not let you adopt if you have 5 domestic animals in your possession this includes farm animals and horses with causes a huge issue around hear

That tyhope of person is why there are so many dogs in rescues. There are a lot of good people out there that would give them good homes. But some rescue workers have the attitude that they are better than anyone else. If she wanted to turn you down she could have done it nicely. There was no need to make accusations and insult you. I'm happy that you have not given up. 11 and 17 are certrainly old enough to be responsible for a pet.

I am so sorry you had to deal with this woman and her attitude. I am glad to hear you are not giving up. I too originally wanted to adopt a rescue. I was told no because I did not have a backyard as well. I had looked for over 2 years and had been refused. That is how I ended getting Buster through a Pet store. How much yard does a 8lb dog need. It is not like you can leave a dog that small out in the yard with all the predators out there animal and human a like. We have had dogs stolen out of backyards here in my neighborhood. I understand that you have to be careful when placing dogs but the rules can be a bit too restrictive. The dogs are the ones who ultimately lose out because there are many loving potential owners who are turned down.

| Just as every dog won't be a good match for your family, neither will every rescue. Rescues don't all have the same views when it comes to placing dogs. Some, especially the rescues that don't take in huge numbers of dogs, tend to be most selective when it comes to placing dogs. Some have black and white policies and don't make exceptions. My sister wanted to adopt a golden retriever, but had a daughter under the age of seven and the GR rescue denied her adoption application. They didn't even talk to her or any of her references. Nor did it seem to matter that she owned a golden who died due to cancer, so was very familiar with the breed. They denied her flat out. Have you checked for rescues or available dogs on www.Petfinder.com? Check out these cuties: Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Havanese | Kent, OH | Sarah Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Maltese | Kent, OH | Frankie Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Schnauzer | Kent, OH | Sparkle Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Havanese | Kent, OH | Jasper Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Cairn Terrier | Medina, OH | Broderick in IL Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Poodle | Warren, OH | Mitzy There were many more. Good luck with your search.
