Jack like the float better than the swim. He can swim and we started by teaching him too like FlDebra how to get out. I didn't let him swim a-lot this past summer I was nervous about it. I didn't want him to always think he could just jump in the pool. Josie was still too young to try swimming but we did float her around. Jack seems to like to go around the pool and bark at who-ever is in. That can get annoying. Still trying to figure out why he barks so bad at us in the pool. Is he confused? Does he want to play? Any suggestions? Your video is too cute Britster

We had a Yorkie that jumped in the water and drowned. It was a freak accident as he was surrounded by people and children were present and splashing around so know one heard Bosco jump in. It was less that a minute before we found him, but he drowned right away, saddest day ever. If yo do take them swimming, supervise in a kitty pool first.

Piper was chasing ducks and when they hit the water, so did she! I don't know if it was the cold water or the excitement that caused her shivering, but man oh man, she was one proud pup-- After all, those were big ol' ducks and she almost got one (noooo, not really, but that's what I told her!)

Mine love to swim. Might just be scared of water. My two were the same. Frankie now gets thrown out of the pool because he won't leave 😆

| YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I have taught all my doggies to swim. We don't have regular access to a pool but do to lakes. Some dogs take to it right away some require a couple of seasons exposure to the water. It is much easier to teach if you have built toy drive and if you have at least one dog who just loves it. I have never forced any dog into the water, instead first exposure is on a hot day and we walk along shoreline. Then fetch retrieve toy alon waters edge. Good luck and have fun.
