| is my Yorkie too hyper? I used to have a female Yorkie and she seemed to be more calm than the male I have now. A year ago I got the female, the whole time we've also had a Pittbull, the female would play with the pitt bull but calmly and not constantly. Sadly she passed away due to being hit by a car, she was about 10 months old. Soon after I got my male (Bentley) and he is a great dog, but he is non stop messing with the pitt bull-wanting to play. After a while its annoying! He's almost 6 months old, do you think MALES ARE MORE HYPER THAN FEMALES??? |

| No, I don't think males are more hyper than females. I think each yorkie, whichever sex, has their own personality. Yorkies are terriers, therefore, most of them are quite hyper, especially, when they are puppies.

| I do not believe Yorkie boys are more hyper compared to girls. Your boy is still a pup, very active. Take him for walks to drain some his energy, and engage him in obedience and trick training to challenge him mentally.

| Yes-I would love to take him for walks, but its so cold and snowy in Michigan that I don't know where to take him. He pretty much is inside for now-unless we go away. He's mat and crate trained. I just DON'T want to yell at him for playing to lose energy. I am thinking about getting another so he can have a friend his own size! As for training/teaching tricks I want to do that more, maybe if I take him into a separate room it'd be easier for him to pay attention to me rather than our pit bull. |
