I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Wow, this is the sort of replies we use to get when we spoke out against the intentional breeding of tinies. Just because a person urges breeders to breed to standard, and also urge buyers to support those breeders, it doesn't mean that we are jealous or petty. Some of us really love this breed, and want to ensure that there are healthy beautiful examples of the Yorkshire terrier around 100 years from now. In order to protect a breed, you have to look towards the future.

| ![]() Sorry, didn't mean to get people riled up. I do agree that 5-7 lb is small. What can I say, I DO prefer a tiny. I know many out there do too. I have a 15 lb long hair chihuahua! Never thought he'd get that big! I love him as much as I do my girls. He, however is not as easy to take along with me as the girls are. If my little one that is 8mos old turns out 5-7 lbs that would be fine. Not likely, since she just reached 2 lbs. My other is 2.2.-5 years old. She Does have health problems, cp actually, Love her anyway. CP, being a birth injury, or injury in the womb. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() We would ask that people try to refrain from making remarks about people's spelling/grammar etcetera. Besides the fact it's some sort of a dig toward a person's intelligence, there could also be valid reasons why some people's spelling isn't always spot on (disability, English as 2nd language, etc). Nor is it expected to be perfect. Thanks all ![]()

So do not assume to use my comments in such a way please. BTW this is YT is it not? Or is this YTCA's bulletin board...it's becoming confusing with all the constant snide remarks...some of us love Yorkie's so much we love them in all natural forms-even Parti coloration. ![]() Last edited by concretegurl; 01-01-2011 at 11:48 AM.

I had no idea that there were any Teacup Yorkies? What is a Teacup? I beleive their is just the standard bred Yorkie...bred to standard by those wishing to keep the Yorkie as it is.

I wish it could be written off as being most likely a stuffed animal. But the looks are suspicously similiar to the poorly bred, off standard pups you see on sites like Luxpups, too. ![]()

| ![]() On a good day Buster is five pounds. It is a challenge to keep him safe and well. Maggie is between 6-7 pounds, it is a challenge to keep her safe! To me, they are both tiny. At my house, we have shoes bigger than both of them! I can't imagine them being any smaller.

| ![]() Hi all! Just adding my input to this thread... My yorkie is considered a Biewer and definitely considered "out of standard". I wanted a yorkie adult companion dog and I was 'counting' on the fact that many times breeders will produce a yorkie that is out of standard or... they retire an adult male or female that is 3 years old or older. I actually was not seeking a "Biewer" - but Tyke fit the criteria I was working with as he is an adult and very much on the 'large' side. He will be neutered next week and I am certain that he will greatly compliment my life as my sweetie companion! There are many people seeking an out of standard companion and thus there will always be yorkies that are too big. Unfortunately, it seems that the teeny tiny dogs have become way too popular and so we have the tiniest - previously unheard of - "tea cup" size dogs available now. If someone can offer a safe environment where the teeny dog can happily live - I don't see why it should concern anyone else if the dog is extremely small. Just my humble view here. Sondesara and Tyke |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() Again, it's not the size of the dog that is the problem. The problem is greeders purposely breeding for them to turn a profit.

| ![]() Personally to me it looks very cute but not real. If you look at the eyes they just don't look real. Maybe I'm wrong but I agree with the others who said it's not real and someone looking to scam people. |
