| Adult Coat Predictions Hello I apologize for bringing this topic up because I'm sure many of you have seen it time and time again. I've browsed multiple threads but they don't exactly answer my question. So I am trying to figure out what type of coat my Layla will have. I've been around a few yorkie puppies recently and have noticed their different fur types. I saw one puppy (around Layla's age) whose fur looked wiry- nothing like my three and a half month old Layla's coat. I also saw one (similar age as well) who had a lot of fur and it looked really smooth and was shiny. That coat wasn't like Layla's either. At this moment her hair is soft and what I assume to be cottony. She doesn't have a thick coat like the other puppy, either. Her's is thinner. So my question is: Can her puppy coat at three months and two weeks indicate which coat she may have as an adult? Or can a puppy with a smooth, thick, shiny coat end up having a cotton coat/vice versa? Also, she has very white/light blond hairs on the top of her head which makes her look like she's bald . I keep getting comments like "Oh my God she's bald!" LOL! The fur on her body (where its growing) is looking like a grayish. What, in your opinion, can I expect color wise? Thanks so much for your time everyone! By the way, here are some pictures in case. |

| My guess would be a silky coat that turns more silverish. |

| She does appear to be "breaking" early -- (hair on top of head is changing color). While she may be silky as that is the tendency for the thinner hair like she has, I agree she will probably be on the light side. (Black will probably turn lighter silver instead of a true steel blue) If you have read the other threads though, you know it is all a guess at 3 1/2 months. Some can surprise still.

| I'm curious about my little Ruby's coloring as well. She looked very much like your little baby's coloring around this time last year. Now, that she's a full year old she's looking more blonde ?? with greyish black on the back. Someone was telling me that she would continue to change color as she aged. I wasn't really aware Yorkies would do this but what do I know. She's my only yorkie. I remember her looking like she was going bald too. lol I guess that's just something they go through. Yorkie's are so sweet. I can't imagine what we ever did without our little Ruby. |
