Oliver is my boy. We are taking him to the vet today to have him checked out. He's paper and wee wee pad trained already. I think he might be about 6 weeks old but I'll find out for sure. He's so cute. I know maybe I shouldn't have taken the dog being that I didn't know anything about him but If you saw his face you would have done the same thing. I ca't believe how smart he is. Zach is totally awed by him. He keeps coming to play with Oliver. Olver's little tail wags so hard when he sees Zach. I can't wait until they can play together. Zoe can take him or leave him as well as the two bassets. Just think if I had given up smoking when I was supposed to. I never would have been at Walgreens buying cigarettes and never would have found Oliver. Talk about fate. |
Wow, so many things happening around you right now... Bless you for saving the dog that was being hit. It is worrisome about the children and hope the Cabinet worker was able to get the children into a safe placement. I imagine this case will be in family court for awhile. It does sound like the 13 year old has some type of mental illness and will probably need a bunch of therapy. Poor guy and hope it is not too late. :( It sounds like you have made a friend with Major's owner and she needs a friend right now. I agree with others, your action caused a ripple effect that is so positive. Thanks for sharing your story with us. |
Holy Moly... Where in Deer Park is this? I know people that live there.... ....And a box of puppies at Walgreens - people are beyond nuts! It is freeeeezzzzziiiinnnnnggggg outside!!! |
4 Attachment(s) I don't know whee Karen lives. When I tried to find out she sort of avoided the issue. I think she lives in the shabby side of town and she might be ashamed, I could be wrong though. The police would not tell me where this was either. I think it was because they were afraid I was going to go over there and start trouble. I could be wrong about the whole thing. All I know is that she walks to my house so it can't be that far. On the other hand my dad used to walk for a mile or so a day So I don't really know. I'm just glad everything turned out okay. As far as Oliver. We took him to the vet today and he checked out fine. I will know the rest when the stool sample is tested for parasites. He is so young he doesn't even have his teeth yet only 2 baby teeth. He's too young to start his shots I have to bring him back in 4 weeks to start his shots. He seems to be wee wee pad trained because he peed right on the pad. He pooped on a newspaper so wherever he was he was trained. The vet says he was just weened off his mom. Here are some photos that I took. I will try to get better ones. |
I don't know how my cat got into this group but the first photo is my cat Olvia. Sorry about that |
You're kitty and your new pup are really cute. He's lucky to have found such a good home. |
Bless your heart for all you have endured this past week. You have been an angel to Oliver and Major, that is for sure. Thank you for getting invloved in Major's situtation and I pray that little boy finds a place where he can get the love he is so deserving of. His acts of violence may represent the only thing he knows and children deserve much better than that. Merry Christmas to you and your family. |
This morning I found a basket on my front porch from Karen and Major. It contained all kinds of toys and treats for my babies. I went out and bought some toys for Major with a dog coat (I hope I got the right size because I was guessing. Still don't know where Karen lives. Her last name is Jones and there are a million Jones's in Deer Park. No Karen though. The gift is sitting under our tree waiting for Karen to come this way again. Well anyway we're spending a quiet Christmas eve with our fur babies and our new little baby Oliver. Again MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYBODY. |
That is totally disgusting! You are a hero. My dear, you a a prime example of true Xmas spirit! |
What an amazing story! :) I hope you find Karen again. Sounds like she needs a friend. Thank you for getting involved.:thumbup: Many people would have just ignored the entire horrible event. |
Bless you for saving Major and those children. Now you have saved another pup! I think you were in the right place at the right time for a reason, twice! And now you have a new human friend too. How awesome. |
Got a call yesterday from the vet and Oliver's stool came back fine. He's in very good shape. Thank God. I'm just sitting here watching him sleep and he's such a little angel. He found his voice and he's a real barker. He loves his food and he's totally wee wee pad trained already. What a relief. I know what I did was dangerous by takng in a dog from the street but I've always been a chance taker. Of course I don't know about his background but I can only hope that he will be a healthy happy dog and I'll play the rest by ear. |

That is wonderful news!! Oliver is so lucky you came into his life. |
Hi Nicole. I just wanted to let you know that I sent you a PM. It's good to know there is a rescue to call when you need it. I lived in Queens New York and nobody ever wanted to help. We saw this dog running up and down the driveway of our apartment and we called North Shore Animal League, The ASPCA, The Humane Socity and nobody would get involved. The dog disappeard and I never found out what happened to him/her. As I said in my PM, by the time my friend and I got there most of the puppies had been taken. We took Oliver I always wamted to do a rescue and I guess now I've done it. Just to let you know that Oliver was checked out by the vet and he's in perfect health. He was also checked for a micro chip because I wasn't sure and he had not been micro chiped. So I don't know where the puppies came from but nobody has reported a theft of their puppies. They all have homes now and it's a happy ending for everybody. As I said before it's good to know that there are rescues that will help out when needed. |
