| How old does a male yorkie have to be to be fertile? As you may know, I am despartly looking for a yorkie puppy. We spoke to a lady that owns a grooming shop where we used to take our yorkie Lacey. She said she is mating her female and male yorkies now. They been going at it for 2 weeks now. The male is only 9 months old. They tried when he was 7 months, but no pregnancy occured. Do you think 9 months is old enough? We put our name on the list and she said if puppies are produced she will sell them for $650. Which is pretty cheap considering what others are charging. This is our only hope of getting a puppy so far because we tried everthing and no luck. Not a one yorkie even listed in our paper for a month now. Even though we would probably still have to wait until April for our puppy. Because we don't even know if pregnancy will happen. And if it does, we have to wait 9 weeks until they are born and then they will have to stay with the mother for another 12 weeks! Then, the litter might not even produce a female which is what we want. The wait is killing me! I can't wait until I can finally hold Chloe Cheyenne in my arms! It will be one of the happiest days of my life! |

| I hope you find Chloe Cheyenne in your arms soon. I'm not sure if the male is old enough, but then I'm not a Breeder.I would think they should at least be a year. I'm sure she's out there somewhere. Good luck in finding her!

| I asked my vet once about this... she said that a male's sperm is more mature after 1 year old... but males younger than 1 year old can impregnate females. (sometimes).

| I did some more research. I have spending all my free time searching the net for a yorkie puppy. That is how badly I want one. I found this breeder in Picayune, MS. She reponded to my e-mail right away. She got 2 females due the week of Christmas! I only live a 2 hour drive from the MS state line. And my grandparents and uncle live in the same town! So, we could always go check the puppies out and stop at my grandparents/uncles' house on the way. Even though we would have to wait 12 weeks before they can come home. I asked her how much she is selling them for and she did not answer me that. I am just afraid that once again I am going to get my hopes up for nothing. Because it seems like everything is beyone our price range of $650. In Jan or Feb, I will be getting my income tax money. I told my mom, I am willing to give up most of my income tax check to go towards the puppy. |

| I guess I got my hopes up for nothing once again. I found out on her website that the puppies are $1500 for males. And since we want a female, it will be even more. We just don't have the kind of money. $650 is the most we can afford to spend. And that is even more than we can really afford. I won't be able to travel 9 hours to get a puppy. My mom was only willing to go to MS because my grandparents live there and it is only a 2-hour drive. But, now when she finds out they want $1500 and up, she won't even consider going at all. She refuses to have the puppies shipped because she wants to see them first. And my mom only drives around our local area. She never drives out of state or even out of our local area. The furthest she was going to go was Picayune, MS and then my dad was going to have to drive. But, it will be out of the question now. Because of the price. Almost all the breeders won't negotiate on price. There is no way we will be able to talk her down to $650. |

| Hi fellow Louisianaian! I'm not sure where Schiever is, but I'm central; between Alexandria and Shreveport. There are usually yorkies in both of those papers. I got both my babies locally from the Alexandria paper. Good luck with your search, I'm sure something in your price range will come along. |
