| Sneezing during play? Milli loves to wrestle and play with Skye. They tear through the house at top speed while tumbling and bouncing off walls and just basically being insane with happiness. From the very beginning we got a kick out of Milli as she played...she sneezes frequently. As in every 15-10 seconds when she and Skye are play biting. We'd heard people talk about 'reverse sneezing' and just assumed that was what we were seeing. I watched some videos on YouTube this afternoon though....and what I saw labled as 'reverse sneezing' isn't anything at all like what Milli does. So...now I'm curious! Does anyone else's yorkie sneeze frequently as (s)he plays?? |

| Have you asked your vet what they think? If you have carpeting, be sure not to use any of those sprinkle-on deodorizers. Mine has always sneezed if you lay her on her back. No one can explain it. She's healthy. Needless to say, she is the only one I've ever had that never sleeps on her back!

| I've not ever talked to the vet about the sneezing because it never manifests at any other time than play....specifically 'play biting' (when they're wrestling). She doesn't sneeze when she's running or otherwise playing. It's the oddest thing! So yours sneezes when she lies on her back! I love how Yorkies tend to sleep on their back. Talk about adorable! I hope your little one finds a comfy way to sleep sans the sneezes! |

| My Miniature Schnauzer and Schnorkie do this. I always assumed that it was due to their inherent nasal issues common in the breed-the same issue that causes reflux issues which is why you have to use raised feeders with certain breeders etc. Does it especially happen after they have rolled over on their back and get back up? We laugh about them sneeze fighting because they literally sneeze at each other...Have never seen my Yorkie doing this (well Yorkie mix lol). |

| My Miniature Schnauzer and Schnorkie do this. I always assumed that it was due to their inherent nasal issues common in the breed-the same issue that causes reflux issues which is why you have to use raised feeders (especially water if you don't have it in a bottle dispenser) with certain breeds like Mini Schnauzer etc. Does it especially happen after they have rolled over on their back and get back up? It may just be nasal "fluids" dripping back and then the sneeze clears it out-totally normal your vet should be very aware of this and explain it-I wouldn't worry unless you notice a lot of burping or vomiting or partial vomiting-refluxing behaviors then you have an issue the first thing with reflux issues is to have your dog's food checked to make sure its appropriate, switch to a proper height raised feeder for food and water-if you don't use a water bottle. If its just strictly during play...well its too cute huh? We laugh about them sneeze fighting because they literally sneeze at each other...Have never seen my Yorkie doing this (well Yorkie mix lol). |

| Hmmmm...no, I can't tell if any of the sneezing is dependent on position...literally because the two puppies are a frenzy of romping, rolling, running, barking, jumping insanity! I'll talk to the vet next time Milli goes in though...just in case there's a nasal issue. It's just the funniest thing and I wondered if all yorkies do it. |

| My two will both sneeze sometimes when they are play fighting each other. I just thought that burying their faces in all that hair tickled their noses. They don't sneeze any other time. Cathy

Thor's Human Donating Member | It sounds behavioral to me. Some dogs sneeze when they get nervous / excited. Thor sneezes when he's kind of interested in something, and then works his way up to reverse sneezing if it's sufficiently exciting.

| Interesting! Rhia does the sneezing when we play. We'll wrestle and rough-house and she'll sneeze. I think it's behavioral as she is healthy and has done it her entire life. It's her little excited quirk.
