| Hi from Louisiana! Hi everyone! I am new here! I just wanted to let you know..we are about to get a little yorkie in a few days! We have to go pick her up Sunday! I have a 6 yr. old granddaughter that lives with us..so this will be partly hers! She will be 11 wks old... and my little granddaughter (Marissa) wants to name her Rose! So if she doesn't change her mind..Rose it will be! I've had poodles before but never a yorkie and I was wondering if they are similar in the potty training area! I am not sure if I want to train her on a pad or if I am going to take her out to do her business! I am undecided on that area! Any comments will help! Thanks! |

| Hi and welcome to YT. I am your northern neighbor!!! I have a little girl too. She is 8 months old and the absolute love of my life....spoiled rotten. Her name is Sophie. We have just about conquered potty pad training. She doesn't go outside...unless we are going for a walk in the yard, etc. Since I'm a teacher, I wanted her to be able to go potty throughout the day while I'm at work. Every other week she is here all day by herself (hubby works a swing shift). She is not crated and never gets into anything when I'm at work. The hall is gated, and she's allowed in the living room, kitchen, and dining room when we are all gone. Otherwise, the entire house is hers...lol. Growing up, my mom had poodles. I'm not sure about all dogs of each breed, but our poodles seemed to be more laid back than my yorkie. Sophie is a bundle of energy, but she is very well behaved. You will LOVE having a yorkie. Again, congrats...and be sure to post pictures of your little one when you can

| I think that is what I might do also .. is train her in the house with maybe a litter box to go in...or something instead of directly on the floor with the pee pads! I wonder if that would do better! I am just opt for suggestions! Thanks for your input. And as soon as we get her I will most likely put a pic of her w/ my dgd! |

| I've heard of a few that do the litter box...we actually use washable pee pads that I bought from T. Bumpkins & Co. She is here on YT. I love them. Cute, and we don't have to change them very often. We have 2 that we just got about a month ago, and I am ready to buy some more. Gonna wait until after Christmas though....would rather buy for Sophie's SB and for the family. Here is the link to her webpage. Washable and reusable dog and puppy pee pads, belly bands, and diapers at T. Bumpkins & Co.

| Welcome! You will probably need to go with something at first because at her age she won't be able to hold it for long! We use the washable peepads, you can get a frame type think at PetsMart for them, but I don't know how much it is. We tried the litter, but our baby boy laid in it and tried to chew the pieces. We got worried he might try to swallow one and it get lodged somewhere, but that's just us! Congrats on your new baby and be sure to post pictures!
