| Yorkie coloring I've been looking at different pictures of all the puppies and older "puppies". Some of them are different colors, and I was wondering if anyone knew how Yorkies color out? I know they're born with a black and brown coat and as they grow older, it turns into a platinum/light brown. I love the little pups coats, they look like little rottweilers at 4-5 weeks. Do the coats ever remain dark around 7-8 months or do they ALL change to platinum? |

| Yorkie coloring Well, I have two male yorkies, both a year old and they are still gold and black. Don't know if they will change, but I have heard that they can change colors up til 3 years of age. My older one (by two weeks) has a little silver on the top of his head. But to describe their color, it is black and tan (gold) color. |

| My Bell was Blk and Gold, Now at 2 yrs shes almost all Silver. Her father was Blk & Gold and her mother was Blue(silver) and Gold. I was hoping for her to stay Blk.. My neighbor has two yorkies, Brother and Sister One is silver and One is Black. The silver is really suppose to be Blue, But Bell is SILVER... Guess I'll never be showing her!! (But then I never had any intentions to)

| Bouncer is a pretty blonde/silver color that I have NEVER seen on a Yorkie before. The other groomer I work with and I are just astounded at his beautiful color, although I'm hoping my little girl when I get her will stay black. I guess you really can't say what they'll look like when they're older b/c they all look the same (black & tan) when their puppies.

| I can already see the silver coming through on Tia's head - so I'm assuming that she's already changing colors. I think that's one of the neatest things about yorkies - their colors change like leaves

| natalie check the top root of his hair... if it's turning light at the root then you should have a light top if it's a carmel color at the root then should have a darker top...change at the root is around 8 weeks(becoming more evident) ....about 6 months they lose their puppy coat and that is where the real change starts and should be in full color between 1 to 2 years. hope that helps
