check the top root of his hair...
if it's turning light at the root then you should have a light top if it's a carmel color at the root then should have a darker top...change at the root is around 8 weeks(becoming more evident) ....about 6 months they lose their puppy coat and that is where the real change starts and should be in full color between 1 to 2 years.
