| Question... Help? My girl Sakura is driving me nuts she is scared to death of the new pet. This past Sunday I got a bearded dragon from my sister-in-law. Well Sakura was fine with the dragon the first 2 days but now she is so afraid of the dragon. The bearded dragon we think is a girl and not very social so I put her in my room to try to get her used to people and such. Now Sakura doesn't spend too much time gated in my room unless she is home alone. But tonight I had some errands to run after work and she couldn't come so I gated her in my room and left her with the tv on. Well at some point she had climbed over her gate and greeted me at the door when I got home. At this moment she is pacing the floor and whining and watching the dragon's cage. I've tried to get her used to having the dragon's tank in the room but she is still scared of it. Anybody know what I could do to make her less afraid? And chill her out? She hasn't been afraid of any other living thing before. The only thing I have found she was afraid of was the sound of a lawn mower but she has gotten over that and I didn't have to do anything. Sorry this is such a long post. And thanks! |

| I'm also a reptile person. When I had a bearded dragon (RIP Irwin) Wobie had no issues with him. However, I had Irwin before I got Wobie. I added Charlotte (a boa constrictor) to our family about a year ago, that's when Wobie became a snake hater. I think Wobie gets jealous when I hold her, because I put him in a seperate room. I wouldn't worry too much about your situation, because she'll probably get used to your new little addition soon. Maybe just give her a little extra love and reassure her that the dragon isn't a threat.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I'm afraid of your bearded dragon and I'm clear across the country. And a boa constrictor? Um... don't they swallow small animals whole? Aren't you afraid of coming home some day and seeing a Yorkie sized lump in the snake? Sorry -- I am freaked out by any reptiles bigger than the little lizards around my house. |

Can you sit Sakura and yourself in front of the cage and hand her treats as she's watching?

| I think Sakura is a very smart little girl and she should be afraid. I wouldn't trust any reptile.

| Hehe I'm not too fond of snakes either. They creep me out but I'm fine with them as long as they are behind glass. It doesn't help I keep finding dead garter snakes in the backyard. But my little dragon it cute Sakura seems to be a little better today. This morning I sat her on my lap and let her look into the tank and talked happily to her and she didn't seem as freaking out as she was at 5:30 this morning. But then it wasn't just the dragon moving around it was the weather too. We had some bad weather around then. I will be trying the with the treats after she eats some dinner too. Thanks! |

| whenever there is something new it seems to take about 2 weeks... but they do get over it. It is something new and she is stressed that is it more important than she is... just make her feel special and she will come around... give it time. |
