| ![]() I don't blame you I dont like to see them left in cars either....would you leave your baby in the car? I remember when my kids were lil...I had 4, all a yr apart...even when I got gas, in a snow storm, I never even thought there was an option, to leave them in the car....I just NEVER would...same as my furbabies...they count on us to protect them..

No Longer a Member | ![]() I did when I had my big dog, I needed to get to the pound to register them and when I called the lady said to have the dog with you. So I show up and they ask me to leave him outside and not bring him in??? So I loaded him in my car, turned on the a/c full blast and just left my drivers door unlocked. I doubted that anyone would try to steal a car with a "fierce looking" 70+lb dog inside. However with Rizzo I'd be to paranoid to leave him alone in my car for 5 minutes, I'd worry that someone would steal him or he'd freak out (he hates the car). The other day I had to get groceries for my sick bf and had Rizzo with me. I had him jump in my kwigy bo and we ran in real quick (stayed away from the fruit) but I was paranoid the whole time. I could have sworn a 5 yo girl pointed at my bag and said puppy! lol. But I'd rather get kicked out of a store than leave my puppy in a car unattended. |

| ![]() Very interesting thread! I've heard some horror stories about dogs being left in the car unattended. Both of mine love driving in the car and they often travel with me. We go to the park every day after work and last week, I had to run into the grocery store quickly to get dinner. I was gone for no more than 5 minutes and I left them in the car with a security guard keeping watch. When I got back, June was cowering on the floor and Cash was enraged and barking on the backseat. When I got into the car, I heard a strange sound and looked up. A guy in the car next to me was making weird noises to get a reaction out of my dogs!! I gave him a piece of my mind, but I'll make another plan next time. I don't want them to go through that again... So, even though they were safe and only left alone for 5 minutes (I could watch them the whole time), it was still a bad experience. I've never left them in the car when it was hot and I've never left them completely unattended. I think it is very cruel to leave your dogs in the car for a long time and I often see dogs, locked in a car, in the parking lot of a mall! I'm definitely leaving a note next time! ![]()

| ![]() I used to leave my beagle in the car in the cooler weather but only for a short amount of time. I now have a shorkie, a yorkie and two bassets and I never take them shopping except to go to pet smart or pet co where they could come in with me. First of all there are too many dog thefts going on especially for yorkies and shorkies. As far as my basset hounds they would probably eat my cat seats before I got back. I don't think anybody would dog nap them and if they did they would pay me to take them back. Last edited by lexi43; 10-25-2010 at 05:29 AM. |

That is my feeling too! I am leaving a note for sure now after reading the posts. I just wanted to make sure I was not overreacting. My husband reminds me that not everyone sees there pet like we do.

| ![]() This is one of my pet peaves. I won't ever do it and I hate it when I see it. These dogs are so tiny that you can literally take them with you everywhere and no one would know. I have taken mine with me to a restaurant. They are in their bag an no one knows that they are even there.

| ![]() I would never leave our baby alone in a car for the fear of somebody breaking in and stealing her. I wouldn't be able to live with myself doing such a dum thing. We always go through a drive through and I bring water and food for Kinder. In fact I won't let anyone babysit her because our last babysitter was mean to our yorkie. We ended up buying a fifth wheel and our parrots and yorkie go where we go. The other day I had a clinic appointment so I snuck her in. Got into the doctor's waiting room and they were amazed. I told them if Kinder can't come in then I won't come in. My husband and I take her with us all the time unless Grand-ma wants to watch her for a couple hours. |
