A poisoned rat fell in her backyard, Princess only picked the rat up in her mouth to bring it to her owner and began foaming at the mouth, vomited & was dead in an hour.

| I missed the earlier sarcasm. Went right over my head. Bottom line: If one of my pups eats a rodent, I will be on the phone with my vet and follow her advice. I will not trust the life of one of my pups to estimates of how much poison it would take to kill one.

| Just wanted to update, Chloe is fine. Having 2 bm's a day and no vomiting. It was more gross than anything. We don't use poisons for mice at our house. We have a cat who does a pretty good job, I think that is where that one came from, our cat caught it and played with it till it was dead and left it. |

Also, there are various types of poison that can be used and not all are the traditional rodent specific brands...you'd be surprised what my neighbor was using once to kill a mice infestation we were experiencing one year. He put these little "pellets" on top of our backyard common wall. As the mice would walk along the wall, he expected them to eat every little pellet. Well, a few pellets happened to fall into my yard and my Bella had eaten one and became seriously ill (severe vomiting & diarrhea) and had to be hospitalized and nearly died because of it. I stand by my original post & that you can NOT trust that a rodent has died from just ANY type of poison...you just do not know. Much better to be safe than sorry...refer to a Vet ASAP!

| Well I am glad she is ok. Also glad that I am not the only one. My cat is a mighty hunter, unfortunatly he never finishes his kills. Or maybe he just likes leaving me gifts in the yard. This summer I found about a dozen or so half eaten mice in the drive way and yard, and more than once my furbabies found them first, sooooooo gross! |
