Little black specks? We have seen a few tiny black specks on our arms over the last few weeks. The vet told us that they looked possibly like flea dirt (droppings), but we have seen no fleas at all, either on our Sunny or anywhere else in the house. Are there other types of parasites/insects/anything that would leave little specks like these? We are stumped. P

Did the vet see fleas? I read somewhere you can tell if you wet a white paper-towel and put your pup on it and brush her. If the dirt falls on the paper-towel and turns red, it's flea dirt and it's the dried blood. Hope this helps, but you would have thought the vet could have told you conclusively.

Funny thing is, the vet didn't look at Sunny, just the "dirt." But we had told her that we hadn't seen any fleas or any evidence of fleas, so I guess she took our word for it. (Years ago we had fleas with our cat, so we knew what to look for. Fleas are a nightmare.) We just have no idea what these specks are. They are all shaped exactly the same--just tiny little narrow bits. And there have only been a few---one or two at a time on my arm, just a few times. And a couple of times on my daughter. (And we are the main ones in the house who pick up Sunny. Son and hubby haven't had them.) I did try to put a little water on one to see if it turned red, but it didn't. Weird! P
