| Some of the Worst Puppy Mills in America HSUS releases "Missouri’s Dirty Dozen" report The HSUS released “Missouri’s Dirty Dozen,” a report on some of the most deplorable puppy mills in Missouri. These puppy mills were singled out for repeatedly depriving dogs of the basics of humane care like food, shelter, and basic veterinary care. Violations included sick or dying puppies who had not been treated by a veterinarian; dogs found shivering in temperatures as low as 9 degrees; and dogs so emaciated that their bones were visible through their skin. Here is the PDF link to the entire report listing the worst of the worst puppymills. Take a few minutes to look it over, noting that there are approximately 200,000 dogs in mills in the state of Missouri cranking out puppies to pet shops and online consumers. The conditions are heartbreaking and the picture are burned into my memory. This report will open your eyes to what really is going on within the mills in this country. The report is dated today and many of the violations are from this past summer. http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/...irty_dozen.pdf http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/...ong-kennel.JPG Windsong Kennel was cited for violations for underweight dogs and dogs found in frigid temperatures without adequate protection from the cold. HSUS http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/...ie-in-snow.jpg Dozens of pages of USDA inspection reports detail repeated Animal Welfare Act violations for dogs exposed to the cold without adequate weather protection at S & S Family Puppies. USDA http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/...ls-270x224.JPG Before dropping his USDA license, this MO commercial breeder accumulated multiple repeat violations, including dogs without food and water, injured dogs who were not being treated by a vet, sanitation issues, and serious care issues. He still holds a state kennel license. HSUS Violations included sick or dying puppies who had not been treated by a veterinarian; dogs found shivering in temperatures as low as 9 degrees; and dogs so emaciated that their bones were visible through their skin.

the only way to shut these places down is for the general public to become aware of what is going on and to STOP buying from pet stores, BYBs and off of the internet...supply and demand...as long as there is a demand, they will continue to supply | |

| You need to read the report. It will open your eyes to what is going on in Missouri! Some had their USDA liscensing revoked BUT they are now selling via the internet on sites like Puppyfind.com One woman was convicted, fined, and then told she could never own animals in the state of Washington. So she MOVED to Missouri and is on the list It's just horrible and disgusting. Please take the time to read the report to fully understand.
