YT Addict | Hazel just came from the vet ! ! ! HIII!!! Hazel just came from the vet. when we walked in there, she was SHAKING and whimpering, it was breaking my HEART. Once her vet came in she calmed down a little. she is almost 4 1/2 lbs. she will be 4 months on the 15th. she got 3 shots. which i thought was odd. *shrugs* she got a 3rd puppy shot (DA2PP PUPPY LEPTO), RABIES 1 YR CANINE, and METACAM INJECTABLE. i have NOOOO idea what that last one was... i thought after puppies get their 3rd shot its over? Well shes scheduled for another one a month from now that she said they give at 18 weeks or older... i'm confused . i don't know why i didn't ask her. Hazel again like the first time didn't YELP or anything when she got the shots. shes such a good puppy. and i also got her some heartgard, she started it last month cuz they gave a a sample. i have a 6 months supply. The vet also told me i could give her one for this month, and then one next month, and because shes not really an "outside dog" thats in the woods alot, i don't need to start giving it to her again until the spring. her little rabies tag, is liek a copperish orange and i HATE it. YUCK any thoughts on any of this? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | That's a new one to me. Maybe someone else has had experience with this, but it doesn't make sense to give a 3rd shot to prevent discomfort from the first two. If that was their worry, they could give an oral NSAID. For future reference, it isn't recommended that yorkies get the rabies shot the same time as their other immunizations. It can be overwhelming to their immune system.
