Maybe they made a mistake and took on more then they could handle when they bred their dog, they should have done research on breeding and yorkies first but sadly alot of people dont do this.
I always believe that everyone deserves a second chance, if they say they wont breed again then maybe they have learnt their lesson.
If it were me I probably would stay in contact but I wouldnt become 'good friends' with them, the way I see it is that if you stay in contact you can educate them on yorkies.

Only you can make this decision, and you have to do what's right for you. Whatever you decide, YT will be here for you and Poppy.

Did you feel the man was sincere? If you're really torn, how about making a quick visit without Poppy to see if things really have changed? Sorry, I really wish I could be more help.

Your so right they where VERY poor examples of breeders. The authorities never called me back and i have not bothered to call them again which i know i should have. Thank you for the advice Gemy xxx

I'm a little uncomfortable with this. Letting a pup go at 5 weeks is hardly forgivable regardless of it being a mistake. Everyone involved is so lucky Poppy is doing well. However, I do understand you wanting Poppy to see her mum and I'm sure it really would be interesting for you to see Poppy's family. But, if it was me, I wouldn't go.

I know what you mean. It was such a hard time when i got her and found out she was 5 weeks old and it was only thanks to people here that i managed to take care of her. I am finding it hard to forgive that but i thought oh well Poppy would get to see her mum which would be nice but hearing she wont even know who her mum is then i dont think i am going to go. xxxx

I would not continue to socialize with them. You said he was rude to you, misled you on the age of the puppy and just selling a 5 week old puppy is really cruel. Not a person I would want to continue any relationship with. I agree the dogs will not know each other if any time at all has passed. Not clear how long you have had Poppy. Once momma is done, she is done. I know that sounds sad but they are different than we are. If you want to socialize Poppy with other Yorkies, I would try to find a play group. I would even be leery about the guy's motives. Is he just trying to smooth things over so you don't sue him? Does he somehow want to reclaim Poppy? I would worry about everything with a man that has not shown me any integrity. This is just my own opinion tho, what you do is up to you.

Sorry it upsets you that Poppy wouldn't remember her mum, but it is a fact of life.
You are Poppy's mum now, the one who is seeing to her well being and training her - and doing it marvelously I might add:)

Only you can judge whether or not you think he was sincere in his apology. Follow your heart. What ever you do, no one here is going to judge you one way or the other. I agree that Poppy probably won't remember that his dog is her mother, but she will know it's another dog to play with.

Has Poppy finished all of her immunizations yet? I might be leary about taking her around if she hasn't.

Holy Cow! I just read through that whole thread. First off, kudos to you, Furbutt for raising Poppy. Secondly, after reading that there is no way you should be going back to see the "breeder".

I had no idea! So, let\'s say you have all doggies at home living together, mom, dad and baby. Do they know they are related?


Also, isn\'t there something about a dog never forgetting the scent of someone or other dog they meet? So maybe she wouldn\'t know it\'s her mom, but she would know she met this dog before?

Anyways, I don\'t think you should go, it will do more harm than good. This guy doesn\'t seem to be someone you should trust.

It sound very leary to me...I don\'t think I would carry her back to see them especially if she don\'t have all her shots yet. You can keep in touch thru over the phone to be nice.
