We need to rehome our 11 year old male Maltese. He is a very nice dog but we recently had a baby and are unable to keep the dog. Bidu likes routine and with a newborn that's just impossible. He currently has insurance with Banfield (Petsmart) and will be transfered to the new owner. There wont be any cost to you for the first year for pet insurance. He is flea and tick free. We take him to the groomers once a week for baths because we don't have time to do it at home. This has to be for a family that WILL walk Bidu daily and has established routines. Bidu perfers homes without kids but he does not have any signs of aggresion against our baby.

How can anybody own a dog for 11 years and give them up. That makes me sick. It's so unfair to the dog who is used to his life.

There is no way i could keep a dog for 11 years and then give it up! that is just disguisting.

Since this thread has popped back up today, I wanted to give an update. The person who posted on CL wanting help for the blind, pregnant yorkie never replied to my emails. I sent the person the names of 3 rescue groups and followed up with another email asking if she'd found a place for the little girl. I never heard a word back from her.

People can be so disappointing.

I stay off of CL for that very reason. I have enough heartache every day from the emails I get about yorkies being dumped as it is. Don't need to subject myself to more.
I have only been able to save one yorkie from CL. SO many are just full of it.

I so agree. They said the dog showed no aggression to the baby, so why????? It's so very cruel!

The kicker is that he has shown no aggression against the baby. So, that means that taking Bidu out once in awhile to potty and take care of one small baby is just too too much work. If I recall correctly Maltese do not shed, so there isn't even the issue of dog hair all over for junior to get into. What is sad is the missed opportunity for Bidu and Baby to bond and get to be great friends....

My maltese was at least 9 when my son was born and he adjusted JUST fine. Often, you could see the three of us out walking. My son in the stroller and Casper on his leash. Yes, at times it took some effort, but I could never have gotten 'rid of' my first baby!

I see folks around here walking their dogs attached to baby strollers all the time. It's not the hardest thing in the world.

This is the e-mail I sent regarding Bidu.

Was wondering what happened to Bidu. In your ad you said he shows no sign of aggression toward the baby. I'd think after 11 yrs. it would be hard to get rid of the little fella. He surely can't be that much work & I'm sure he would adjust very easily to a new routine. Pets are very adaptable.

Bidu is still here with us. We haven't scheduled interviews yet with the potential new owners. We are giving him away because we care. We hardly have time with him and that's not fair. What the point of having a pet if you can't give it attention and love???

For some reason I just don't buy her excuse. After all...11 yrs. for any pet is almost his entire life. How could anyone be so cruel
