| Louis doesn't eat at his dog bowl.... Whenever Louis eats he takes a big bite of his food, and then runs to the family room, or hallway and drops it, and eats it off of the floor. Sometimes I will be in my bedroom and I will hear some crunching sounds, and there is Louis under my bed eating his food. I wonder why he does this? It's too cute!

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | My first yorkie would do that all the time. He would grab some in his mouth and run to the living room rug and drop it. He would do it over and over. I always wonder why he did it but never figured it out.

| Maybe they are trying to exercise while they eat!

| That is how Sophie Kate eats also, one piece of kibble and takes it to the dinning room, back and forth. She also hides her treats and will come out with on 3 days later and act like she is the luckiest dog in the world.

| Gizmo does the same thing. He grabs food from his bowl in the kitchen and brings it into the living room. I think he does it to he show us he's eating, and then we tell him good boy!!

| That is pretty normal yorkie behavior. I wonder how they ever survive, it looks like they burn off more calolries than they eat, just running back and forth. |

| Its because all food is much more flavorful when eaten on carpeting vs. the kitchen tile. DUH!!! Peggy, Monkey & Maddie

| The other day, I didn't know Louis was eating and I asked him if he wanted to go outside. He dropped about 10 pieces of food out of his mouth in the family room and went outside to potty. Then when he was done outside, he ran back into the family and ate the pieces he dropped.

| I think it's normal. Both of mine do it. I think it's funny at times because they tend to snatch from the opposite pile. LOL |

YT 500 Club Member | My Sophie does the same thing. She picks up a mouth full of food and takes it to the dining room and eats it off the carpet. My brother in-law's dog (it was a Australian Shepard/Blue Heeler did the very same thing.

| If you want to hear funny, my brother-in-law has a 4 pound Yorkie-poo who will grab a bit of food from the kitchen, back up all the way up until he hits the carpet, he will then spin around and eat that piece, and then go back and do it all over again. It is so cute. |

| Milli does it too. I wonder if it could be a trait in small dogs to take food from the larger food source and move away so as to not get their food taken by other dogs? In a dog pack, the smaller dog would likely take a chunk of the meat source and move away from the larger dogs who were feeding. I don't understand, however, why these traits would continue to show up in dogs that don't have to compete for food. |
