| Do you leave water and food in crate!? For all of you that crate train, do you leave water and food in their crate when you aren't home? I don't leave water in the crate for Fiona, however, I will leave a kong filled with food for her during the day.....what do you all do!?

| Water is the most important! They need water available at all times I don't free feed so I don't leave food, but I guess a kong may be OK as a little treat or mid-day snack... |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Water should be available to them at ALL times. I dont crate Poppy, she sleeps in her pen at the moment and I have water in there 24/7 for her and water downstairs for when shes not in her pen. I put her food downstairs then move it to the pen when shes in there. I will be crate training soon and will only have water available to her when she is in the crate.

| Water should always be available. However, food depends on the pups age. Under a year and yes. Over a year no unless there are reasons...like a little tiny. But as stated water at all times.

YT Addict | First i only had water in her crate... when i would come home from work and take her out, shes do a mad RUSH for her food. so i started feeling badly. about 2 weeks ago i started puttin food in there with her... i've heard this is a bad idea, but i haven't had problems with it... i just can't stand the fact of thinking she may be hungry with no food =[ |

| I know water should be avaible at all times, but I'm just worried that if I start putting it in with Fiona, she is going to have accidents in her crate!? She is 2 years old now, but still....well, wait a min, I should say, that I'm usually only gone for about an hour or so during the day...since i'm not working now, I'm home with them all the time...but still....Do any of you use the little like hamster like water bottles for the crates!?

| I'd definitely leave water out for her. They do have water bottles like the ones you'd use for a hamster, or there are bowls that you can attach to the front of the crate.

| Jackson does not use a crate ever, he has free roam, and his water bowl sits out all day where he has access to it but he never drinks or eats when I'm not home. If he was in a crate, I would not put water in there personally. I dogsit for quite a few dogs and nobody leaves water in their dogs crate... well, the one that did, I always came to her house around 1pm to pee in the crate because he would drink all the water!

I agree with that. We have 3 water bowls out at our house, since we do have the 2 dogs, plus 2 cats. Fiona is really not in her crate as much as she would be when I was working, but I really think she would have accidents if I did leave water in there. All the vets I worked with told me to leave it in the crate, others would say no...odd, i know! Maybe ill start leaving her a little bit of water in her crate and see how she does!
