"Reno" is coming today 3 Attachment(s) Today is the day I get "Reno" to foster. I am so lucky to be able to get him even for a short while until a forever home is found. Reno is what the rescue group have called him, but they say he really doesn't know the name and I can change it if I want. He is estimated somewhere between 8 and 10 years old. They sent me some photos of him, so am attaching them. The rescue girl says she has to go pick up some more dogs from animal control today as well and get them to the vets for checking, so it is going to be around 4 o'clock before she is going to be able to meet us with Reno. We are meeting half way. It's been a long time since I did fostering. Going to be nice to be able to help these furbabies again. |
What an incredibly wonderful thing you are doing. It's going to be so fulfilling for both of you. "Reno" looks like such a sweetie. I can't wait for updates later this afternoon:) |
Awww, bless his heart. He's just as cute as can be! I'm glad he's found you to help him search for his new furever home. :) |
Bless you for fostering little Reno! It takes a special person to do fostering...I know he will do great with you! I hope he finds his forever home soon. Dyan |
Thanks Karen Got to admit I am a little nervous - but that is normal. I used to get the same feeling when I fostered dachsies. Every time I got a new one I would be so nervous - what if the dog didn't like me, what if he/she didn't get along with my other dogs - etc etc etc. But always turned out fine:) Although Ginger wouldn't allow Bruce near her for about a year before she decided he was OK, then she wouldn't leave his side! She had obviously been abused by a man at the puppy mill. |
Oh, is he ever precious!! What a wonderful thing you are doing for him! |
He's a darling!! Best of luck with him:) |
Thanks for taking in Reno...his face doesn't match his age...he's got a perpetual puppy face:) |
What a sweet face! Don't you find it awfully hard to give your foster pets up when the time comes? |

Can't wait to see him "in person" |
What a doll. Thank you for being his guardian angel until he gets his furever home. |

But, I have told myself that no matter how much I love the fosters they are fosters and here temporarily. Because if we adopted a foster then it would be one less foster home, because three dogs would be our limit (and we already have Lil Bit and Beamer), and the rescue group does need foster homes. Boy, time seems to be going by so slowly today:animal-pa:animal-pa |
Aweee cant wait to see more pics!! His face is absolutely adorable!! |
Congratulations!!! I hope everything goes well! :) Good luck! |
Here's wishing the best for you and Mr. Reno. It's sad that as cute as he is, he would just be set aside. I think he will be loved from now on. |
He's got a sweet little face. I hope he does well and can't wait to hear all about him when he gets settled in. Soon.... Good luck! |
This waiting is killing me! Michele from Little Dog Rescue just called and said it will be about 5pm before she can leave there with him. So it will be about 5:30 before we meet her to pick him up. |
How sweet, you're an angel. I love the older babies! He is a doll. I hope all goes well for him at the vet. |

What a sweet little dog! I'm sure he will be just fine in your home even if only for a little while. We are caring for a 12 year old yorkie that was given away to rescue - he is wonderful. |
What a cute face. You are doing a wonderful thing. |
Oh what a sweetie~I'm sure he will fit right in and make him self at home :p I like the name Reno~my husband has a friend named Reno. He was best man at our wedding so I say keep it~we have 24 yrs of marriage behind us with a little bit of help from Reno. ;) |
He's adorable. Looks like he could use some love. |
Is he there yet? |
Got home with him about 30 minutes ago! We met Michele in a McDonalds parking lot. She had Reno on the grass, and Bruce knelt down and Reno made a beeline for him and started licking his face! Michele was surprised. She said that is was a good sign. He lay on Bruce's lap all the way home! He has been fine since we got him home. Beamer and Lil Bit have been sniffing him and he, of course, had to check them out too. He is, naturally, very timid and unsure. I have a belly band on him, as one of the first things he did was lift his leg! He looks just like his photos. Michele took a couple of photos of us with him and when she e-mails them to me I'll post them. He does need a groom, but my groomer will be here Wednesday so I'll have her groom him. He is "investigating" the house, as he has never been in a home before, been a puppy mill dog all his life. I think he will adjust soon. |
Congrats Sylvia! I'm sure with you two loving on him he'll be a whole new guy in just a short while. :) |

Oh I'm so excited for Reno! He's going to be so happy with you guys. Can't wait to see a photo of all of them together. |
Sounds like he will adjust quickly. I am so thrilled he is in a loving home to get him started on a better life. What a great thing you are doing. |
He is now settled down for the night. I have a small pen (plenty big enough for him to move around in) that I put him in for the night. He has food and water in case he wants some in the night. He hadn't seem too interested in the food and water bowls I have down for Lil Bit and Beamer (they are free fed), so I was a little worried that he may not eat. But when I put him in the pen I gave him a jerky treat (just 97% lean ground beef that I dehydrate myself) and he loved it. So gave him a couple more and a chicken jerky (again dehydrated myself from chicken breast that Bruce had cooked). Plus he decided to eat the food in the bowl I put in the pen. He has been through a lot today - being brought to a new place to "strangers" so he is doing a lot better than I expected. He will soon get used to being in a home. Puppy mill rescues are so special. Bruce will let him out in the morning if he is up before me, and he will have the free roam of the house, but the pen door will stay open in case he wants to go in there to feel "safe". I also put a blanket in there (thank you Sugarmamma:)) and he can take that with him when he gets his forever home. He is so precious. Going to keep the name Reno (how could I say "no" to Megansmomma:D). |
