So glad he is doing well and adjusting. And I agree with 'be careful what you wish for'. I bet he'll bark soon enough:D |
2 Attachment(s) Michele from Little Dog Rescue sent me the photos she took when we picked up Reno, so attaching them. I took some photos yesterday and I took some today after he was groomed. I need to resize them and then I will upload them. Think I need to create an album for him:) He did do well being groomed. Sue shaved him down, he has really really dry skin, so she shaved him down to give the skin chance to "breathe" Now he is in a better environment and eating better food his skin should get better. he looks like a different dog now he is shaved down:):) |
He looks great, Sylvia (so do you and Bruce ;) ) Is he going to join the ranks of the Doxies or are you actually looking for a home for this little guy? :D |
No, we are not keeping him. As soon as he is socialized and can be let go we will let LDR know and they will put him up for adoption on their website. But, I get to "vet" the applicants, and it is going to have to be one special home that gets Reno. Then maybe we will foster another little dog for them. They really need people to foster. |
OK - I have an album for Reno on my profile page. They aren't in order, but they all have captions. |

Bless you both for helping Reno and wanting to help others! Rescues do need people who are willing to foster! |
I can't see the halo's above your heads |

But you should have been able to see our horns (although mine are always covered with a hat when we go out:D) |

Sylvia I just saw and read through this whole thread. How wonderful you and Bruce are able to foster. Reno is a great name, and he looks pretty relaxed on Bruce's lap. You both are special folks, to give your love, time, and home, to foster. Reno is so lucky now. Loved the pics. Best of luck with Reno. |
Pictures are great. I think Bruce is having more fun in the yard than the dogs! lol He looks like a good daddy! Now that I know what you look like, I may see you around town someday. You're doing a great thing! |

When I first saw Bruce on the ground I was worried, thought something had happened (He has CHF). But he had got down to play with the Yorkies. He is great with dogs and dogs have some kind of affinity with him. |
I Love the pics of Reno but I especially LOVE your red hats!!! I am so happy this baby has you and Bruce :) You both look so sweet and loving |
Such a beautiful story and bless you for his rescue. Love the updates and his name, too. :) |
I just read through this entire thread and I love it - what a great thing you are doing! Sylvia, you and Bruce are remarkable people - thank you for giving Reno his life back. I love the updates too - keep them coming. :) |
The halos may have slipped :D......but, I still think you're angels for taking in Reno and showing him the love he deserves. May God bless you all! Btw....we love the name Reno!:D |
Reno is cute, cute and cute and he seems to really like your husband a lot (I think it is your husband). Lucky you for getting to foster him and lucky him for find you and Bruce. I know you will find him the perfect family when he is ready. Love your Red Hat, I wish I could wear hats. |
It is amazing how far Reno has come in just a few days. Yesterday I realized that Reno wasn't going into the pen because he felt safer there, but because he thought that was what was expected of him. So, I closed the door to the pen to see what would happen. He wasn't a bit concerned that he couldn't get into it. He decided he liked Lil Bit's bed better (Lil Bit never uses it, she prefers the chair with Bruce). He slept in the bed all night. I opened the back door this morning and I went to sit in a lounge chair I have out there. I then called "Reno" and he came bounding out of the house to me. He knows his name! Ever since he got here Beamer has been trying to get him to play, and he wouldn't have any of that! But today he tried to get Beamer to play with him, his little tail wagging (first time I have seen his tail wag), and Beamer didn't want to play!!!! But they did chase each other around the yard later. He found one of Beamer's bones in the yard and decided he wanted to play with it, he was actually growling and barking at it, so he has found his voice!!! I can't believe the change in him in just a few days! |
He is so cute. He looks like a puppy and is such a lucky little guy. |

Another big step this morning - he figured out he can go outside through the doggie door as well as come in through it. Bruce and I are just amazed at how far he has come in just a week. |
Sylvia, it just goes to show that when people are consistent with affection and devotion a dog will learn to come out of its shell. You and Bruce are doing wonders with Reno and I am happy for you both and especially Reno! Dyan |
I just talked to Michele at LDR to give her the latest update. She asked if it was time to put him up for adoption. I said if she puts him up now it will probably be a week or two before someone applies for him, so she can go ahead and put him on the website for adoption. I have to take some close up pics of him for her and write up something for the listing. So it will be a few days before he shows up on the website as available. I am really going to miss him when he gets his forever home. Someone is going to be blessed with a wonderful companion. |
