| What is that smell??? After taking the girls out and we return inside, they have a smell. What is that? Cooper was bathed Friday, and Maddie yesterday. We just came in from being about about 10-15 min and they are smelly. Last edited by MaddiesMommie; 09-12-2010 at 12:47 PM. |

| did they roll on the ground during this walk? when there are remnants of dead things on the ground these dogs of ours no matter what breed love to roll in it. Is it a sour bitter weird smell, wrong but not nasty |

| No. I know that smell all to well. LOL Living on a farm you get to know that smell. Yea, it is that weird outside smell. I guess it is just their body odor smell. |

| Today I had a lady come over really excited to see Darwin and Mabel. She seemed harmless so I let her cuddle with Mabel. I didn't realize that she had bathed herself in perfume, so when I took Mabel back I instantly got a bad headache. It took me a few seconds to realize it was Mabel stinking of this horrible perfume the woman was wearing. I am very sensitive to certain types of perfume and it took a couple of hours for the smell to go away. |

| If it was hot out, it's probably just that 'wet dog' smell. Kids get it when they sweat in the summer, nothing stinks worse than a sweaty kid.

| We call it the "sun" smell in my house. But it seems to go away after they cool down. Maybe you could try conditioning sprays like buddy splash instead of washing more than once a week ( unless their fur is visibly dirty). I was watching a vet show yesterday and the vet was saying washing dogs more than once a weeks kills the good bacteria on their skin and opens them up to potential skin infections. just a thought. |

| I read somewhere that when dogs go outside, they send out a scent to alert other dogs that they are in the vicinity. They can often tell another dog is near even before they see them, most likely from the scent that they are emitting. My two always have that "smell" after a walk outside, but it goes away after a while. |

| Oh yeah - we get the stinky sun smell around here too. It goes away after we've been inside for awhile
