Well, Molly has been spayed......and I survived!

My Molly was spayed yesterday and thankfully I survived I was a nervous wreck! She on the other hand is doing fabulous! Just a quick question...How calm and quiet do I need to keep her? It was very difficult to keep Jax away from her last night but today she seems to be her old playful self so I have been letting them play. I know she feels good but I don't want her to overdue it. Should I separate them or just let them go if she feels like it? She also had 8 baby teeth removed but she is eating already. She actually ate a bit last night but I was scared to let her eat too much and throw up. I am so thankful she came out of the surgery ok. Gaah, you would think they were made of crystal the way I treat them but they really are tough lil' guys!

Another silly question....since Molly has come home, Jax has been....sorry..humping her like crazy! He never used to do this. Do you think he 'smells' something on her that he didn't before? I don't know....weird. He never used to do that to her, only his bed

Yay for Molly! i would try to encourage her to have as much downtime as possible (easier said than done), and when they play be sure that they don't play to roughly. If you think she is wearing herself down, separate them for a bit. It's wonderful that she is doing so well.

I know what you mean about the nerves. I've almost decided that I want my next one to be from an exhibitor that has an older pup that didn't work out as a show prospect and is spayed / neutered before I get it.

I kept my Cha Cha, a chorkie rescue, away from Apple & Buzz for 72 hrs., for her own good...She stayed in the doggie day room, w/her t.v., couch, all her favorite blankets and pillows...I was afraid the three of them would get too rowdy, and she'd pop a stitch...However, there are some on here, who put their pups right back in the pack, and they do just fine...Soooooo, I'd say, watch her, and do what your gut says...I think I'd discourage the little dude from humping her, because it might be a bit stressful on her and her stitches for a few days...Glad it all turned out o.k., and you survived...It's always the parents that are in more danger of not making it, than the babies lolol...

I, totally, agree...I never really wanted an older pup, but then I got this little rescue Chorkie...Based on her teeth, she's about a year and a half old, and she has worked out just fine...I did have to have her spayed, dental, shots, etc. etc. etc., but she has worked out just fine...I realize now, you don't always need to have a puppy...Just look at Darlene's Jesse...He's a gorgeous little adult dog...I think she is having to work on the potty pad thingy, as he was outdoor trained, but it looks like she is tickled to pieces w/him ...I know I'm very happy w/my little Cha Cha, and she seems very happy to be here too
