| question I havent been on here in a very long time. Dusty is 4 yrs old now. I just had him neutered last week. how long will it take him to start to show changes. he is really not that hyper. hes not a barker. the only problem is he wants to mark. I know he may not stop that, but will it help?

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | It may help, but it's hard to tell, usually, neutering before the marking behavior starts is the best way to prevent marking. I have two rescue boys who were neutered at a year old and they both still mark, pretty much no matter what I've tried, LOL. They are just hard-wired to mark. Maybe someone who has been successful at deterring marking can help. In the mean-time, try a belly band! They are awesome! You can get some awesome ones here: Walnut Hill Yorkies at Doggie Pee Pads

| Im new on here and i dont have a yorkie yet but im going to hopefully get one soon maybe next year if possible. I was wondering when i get a yorkie I was thinking about using those potty patches 2 train it. Im probably going to be living in a apt. somewhere but i was wondering what everyone thinks about it? Also i was going to train it in side on the potty patch and outside in the grass. |

| The thing about waiting so long to neuter your boy is that marking is not a habit. You will have to work with him and letting him know that marking is not an ok thing to do anymore. (Not that it was in the first place). I neutered my boy at 3 years but it was because I got a female and I didn't want them to have puppies. I recommend using a belly band. My boy didn't like getting wet/peeing on himself and he stopped marking. |
