I'm sorry but I would be so tempted to say "shame it's owner is a dog!" Oooooh! Bitchy I know LOL But nobody would insult my baby and get away with it!;) |
Both of my girls are just over 4 pounds. Sydney has real silky hair and Emmie has cottony hair. Emmie weighs .4 less than Sydney. People will come up to us and say "Oh they are so cute. I just love this one here(Sydney) she is so small. How much does the other one(Emmie) weigh?" All people care about is what they weigh. I just love telling them Emmie weighs less than Sydney. The hair makes her look bigger. What difference does it make? |

Thank goodness I haven't had any of that! We went to PetSmart last night for Fynn's first puppy class - which went really well, by the way - and everyone just seemed to LOVE him. They didn't ask how much he weighs, they didn't say anything rude. I was impressed. They did as how big he would get but nothing awful. The only thing that bugs me is my neighbor - whom I adore and we tease back and forth - calls Fynn a 'rat.' She's always like, "Commer you little rat!" Jokingly, of course. I mean, she doesn't say it to be rude, she's just teasing him and I know that, but it bugs me! He's noooot a rat! |
I have a neighbor that keeps asking me when I'm going to get a "real dog". He makes fun of my DH for walking two yorkies and thinks I forced him into getting wimpy dogs. Little does he know that my DH is the one who made me buy them sweaters and raincoats for inclement weather. He said, when we get a dog, we're going to get a manly dog. My DH wanted to leave a couple of "dookie" bags on his lawn. LOL |
I must be the luckiest yorkie owner in the world because I have NEVER had anyone tell me they had a smaller yorkie. Skeeter is now 10 pounds. Adie is 7 pounds and Gracie is 5 pounds. People ask me if Gracie is the youngest (presumable because she is the smallest) but they don't comment on any of their sizes. The comments I get the most are how pretty they think Adie is. Skeeter and Gracie are little cuties but they seem to thing Our diva is a beauty. Of course she is also the only one with long hair and a topknot so I'm sure that plays into it. LOL |

Wrigley & Camden are 6+lbs and we get asked if they are "tcups" and they always pay attention to them & ignore Crosley (she's a 16-17 Yorkie-Poo) and I always feel bad for her because she's the one who LOVES the attention! |
Several months ago, (before we got Connor) I answered an ad in the paper about a Schnauzer/ Malti that the owner was giving away. She lives in the same town that our breeder does, so I asked her if she knew Debi, to which she said yes, but in a VERY condescending tone. The lady then asked how much our boy weighed and I told her 9 pounds. Boy, she started rattling off about how NOT up to standard, poor quality because of Neo's size, you name it -she said it! By the time she shut up I was SO pissed all I could say was "He's perfect to ME and more to LOVE! He's our SON, not a show dog!" Needless to say, we didn't get her dog. Who the Hell did she think she is? |

It happens to me all the time too. Prada is almost 8 pounds and she's silver. So, I get "Oh, she so big and why is she that color?" Drives me nutz! I'm a big girl myself, so I REALLY take offense to someone commenting on my baby's weight. |
