"Oh I have one too... But he's 3 pounds" So I have encountered this several times... I was leaving PetsMart today with both my furbabies... I was almost to my car and heard a lady say "Oh, I have one too! BUT he's three pounds..." like it makes her a better person because she owns a tiny. (Keep in mind, I was walking Khloe who is barely 3lbs). I have also heard this several other times before I had Khloe where people state that they have a yorkie, but it is far smaller. Do people honestly think that having a smaller dog somehow makes them superior? I just don't understand why it is necessary to share your dog's weight unless someone asks. I could not imagine someone talking about their skin kids and say "Oh I have an 8-year-old, but he's 30 pounds :)" Is this odd, or am I just being an oversensitive momma? |
This has happened to me also - Bridget is all of 6.5lbs. I would love to have a smart remark - but can never think of one fast enough. |
I don't get the fascination with super tiny dogs. It's almost like it's a contest to see who wins. Granted, I can't carry 10 lb Rhett around in a little bag. But then I didn't get him to be a fashion accessory. |
Just say, "Oh, that's too bad". They will be so stunned they won't know what to say before you're out of there. |

I've gotten that too, and my dogs are small. 5 pounds, 6 pounds, and 3 pounds. I think people are just ignorant and don't mean it as a put down. I think next time you should just respond - "oh, I'm sorry", walk away and they will be left wondering what the heck that meant. :p |

Ugh - I can't stand that! My little guy fits right into the standard (he's 5.5 pounds), and to me, he is so small! I get so mad when someone makes a comment like, "I have a Yorkie too, but mine is a teacup." :( |
When i was at the vet there was a woman with a teeny tiny Yorkie puppy.I was talking to her and she seemed nice. then it came time for Gatsby to be weighed he now weighs 6 1/2 pounds I was thrilled because he has a hard time gaining weight and that is what the vet wants him to be 6 1/2 pounds she looks down at the tiny puppy in her hands and says "don't you ever get that big, momma wants to love you forever". was she implying that if her puppy got to 6 pounds she would not love it any more? I actually was very upset by this and when i mentioned it to the vet she promised to speak with the woman. |

I have two that are still under 5 lbs at 6 months and I can not wait fir them to get larger like my 9 lb big boy I don't know what all the hype is about with small dogs I'm not Paris Hilton I don't want to carry them around everywhere.... |
LOL, I get a lot of that with Jackson, since he's 15lbs. First, it's "Is he a Yorkie?! I recognized the face... but mine is 3lbs." Most people I've come across don't say it rudely tho, but I remember one person came across snobby. I admit, I've run into a few people with little Yorkies and I've said "Aw, I have a yorkie but he's 15lbs!" LOL. They're usually just stunned. |

LOL. Those comments, the ones you can tell are snobby anyway, drive me nuts. What I like to do for the snotty ones is be even snottier back..... "Oh you have a three pounder? Well pet quality dogs like that are OK but I prefer one that conforms more to the breed standard like mine does. According to the AKC she's the perfect weight for a Yorkie":D Ha! Try to make my little girl feel bad because she doesn't weigh two pounds, will ya? Now I have friends with tinies and they're just sweethearts, dogs and mamas both, but the mamas don't have a superiority complex about it. They just see them as Yorkies who happen to be small, and that's the way it should be. I do admire the moms because owning one that little would scare the (@$#*& out of me. |

People make comments to me all the time!! When I bring Brooke(3.25 lbs) out with Bunny (4.25lbs) they will say that they like the small one better!! Like Bunny is an amazon girl!! I also have a 3 lb. chihuahua, Bitsy, and people will say to me that " I like the ones with the hair, the other one is ugly!!" Now I know some people don't like chihuahuas but they are all my babies and I really hate that!! |

"How big will she get?" "Probably around 7lbs, as her parents are" "Oh.. well my mom had one that didn't get any bigger than yours is now." ...Rosie was 1lb 12 oz at the time.. People are ridiculous. It really is a contest to them! |
