| Golden puppy Hello my friend just purchased a golden yorkie that carries the gene and parti gene. Can someone explain this to me and let me no if it's acceptable ? |

| Those who adhere to breeding only the standard color will tell you NO it is not acceptable. The subject is very controversial, and threads on this topic can get very heated. I myself, breed both parti and goldens so of course I see nothing wrong with it. They are accepted by the AKC, but not by the YTCA. |

| Goldens and parti's have been appearing in litters since the beginning of the breed. Unfortunately due to their off standard color, they were given away or destroyed because it was thought that they were inferior or defective. Parti and golden color are a result of recessive genes that can hide for generations. These off standard colors have been eligible for registration with AKC since 2000, as long as photo are provided at time of registration.
