| Potty Training: How long did it take?? Ok I am curious to see how long it too others to get their pup fully trained or atleast only having very few accidents if any at all? My Lucy is doing great most of the time but still has an acident once a day every so often....Usually she goes and stands by the door and looks at me but sometimes she just does it where ever.. Has anyone got their yorkie COMPLETELY potty trained? ...I know it is hard with this breed |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Im going through potty training right now. Poppy goes on her pads 80% of the time... I am going to start training her outside because I think she finds it hard to tell the difference between a pad and the carpet.

| Ziva was just over 1 year before she seemed to be able to hold it long enough to ask to go out and than get there in time. Before that she was 100% reliable on the newspaper(we didn't use pads)in two places in the house (the house is long and kind of split in 2)I did take away all door mats (we have all tile floors)and put them on the outside, closed off all bedrooms and baths. It took a couple of weeks of transition because we had spent so long with available newspaper in the house she kept running for those two spots and didn't leave herself enough time to go to the door. She is very independent and did not like to have to ask to go.At one point I didn't think it was going to happen- hang in there! |

| It took lot of discipline on our part - but we got it done in two months and was reliable in four months Good luck

| Chloe was a little over a year old before she became pretty reliably potty trained. However, even now she doesn't usually ask to go out. I just have her on a schedule and as long as I don't mess up, she doesn't mess up. Our only accidents these days are if she decides she wants to come in the house before she's done number two. If I don't force her to stay out, she'll come in the house and poop in the floor thirty minutes later. Good luck with your potty training! Chloe is my second inside dog and first Yorkie. She has definitely been much harder to potty train than my first dog, which was a poodle and he was 100% potty trained in about 2 or 3 weeks. Difficulty with potty training is about the only Yorkie breed description that was dead on with Chloe! -C

| Piper is 21 weeks old now and is 99.9% pee pad trained. I am leaving that 0.1% because occasionally (usually when she just woke up and is very excited) she will pee next to the pad. She has been very reliable for around 3 weeks now. We got her when she was 15 weeks old. She picked it up really quick!

| When I got Bentley at 16 weeks it took no time to get him potty trained to go outside. Making sure he went out after naps, after he ate, or if it was around 4 hours til he went last....I was very vigilant in keeping track and I swear if he went in the house 5 times that is alot. He hasn't had any accidents at all...hikes his little leg outside and has never marked in the house. Maybe he is the exception to the rule but he was easy to get to do his business outside. |

| Snickers is over 4 months of age. She is pretty much completly potty trained. No pads were ever used! She barks when she needs to go outside!!! She has a cage that she uses for a bathroom, which is outside. She sleeps in a carrier all night, no accidents in there. |

| I got Rosie when she was 6 months old. I tried puppy pads and she wanted NO part of those. But she did great when I took her outside. She was fully trained by about 9 months old as far as urinating. However, we do have an occasional accident when it comes to doing #2! She never pees in the house now but . . . My theory is if you have a dog in the house you just might have an accident every now and then.

| Ally didn't take long to potty train. I think she was around 6-7 months when I trusted her totally. She doesn't have any accidents at all and she's about 19 months. She holds it a long time. We even took her to South Carolina (8-9 hrs) and back when she was 3 months and she never had an accident. Tia is 6.5 months and she has very few accidents. When I first got her, she had to potty every 5 minutes. It drove me crazy. Both will get my attention by scratching/jumping up on my leg, going to the door and looking at me, or Ally will give me a little bark if she needs to go really bad. They will hold it forever at night if I put their kennels in my bedroom. My girls potty outside. I don't think they would have done half as well if I worked. |

Tucker was 7 months old..it took alot of consistency on my part. He had to be taken out every hour during wake hours and at least 0nce a night untill he was about 6 months old. He goes to the door on his own now and if we dont watch him he will go in the house. He still goes out about every 2 hours during the day..good luck.. to me it was the hardest thing about owning puppies.. and im not sure why I qouted this post..
