this all seems like a waste of time.. It's like talking to a wall.. Some people really don't deserve to own a pet. (sorry, reading 6 pages of this doesn't really result in a positive post.. :-/) |
If you were to use your male as a stud to breed with someone's else female - you know you would be also responsible financially too, to any of the pups/their owner if something was to happen with them in regards to their health (genetic problems). Pet people that use their own males as a stud usually do not know this. But it is correct. They think once they have done their tead and collected the stud fee they are done. No, not true. Since half the genetics also comes from the male. Be ready for the owners to come to you as the stud owner too if they need surgery. Also if the female is not tested - he could get an STD from the breeding if she had something. Dogs can also get Herpes, not to mention the other STDs. And once a male is used as a stud, they most often begin to mark their territory. So have plenty of belly bands ready and also feminie napkins to place in the bands. They will need to be change several times a day. Are you ready for all this? I think not. Not to mention - you as the stud owner, has to do the mating. Yes, holding on to the two dogs once they have tied, so the male and female do not get hurt. Be sure to have a towel - it can be messy when they seperate. Doesn't sound worth it, does it?? No!! Just have him spayed and save yourself a lot of trouble and money. Breeding is not a way to make money - it just causes you to spend more of your money on testing, supplies, carpet, and etc... Plus this particular female is way too small. The owner should know this, as well she is not to quality being a rescue and should not be breed. Shouldn't she already be spayed, since she is a rescue?? Hmmmmm... So she already has two marks against her not to be breed. |

As a boy owner obviously the girl yorkie owner would make more money off the babies than me, how much profit would she make over me? Maybe you and the girl owner could just split everything, that way it would be fair. You split the profits when you sell the pups and you could help her pay for vet visits, x-rays, whelping and puppy supplies, shots, tail docking and dew claws, c-section and any thing else that might crop up. I think that would probably be the best way to do it if you are so worried about who will make more money. |

"No!! Just have him spayed and save yourself a lot of trouble and money" I think all the advice is falling on deaf ears. Like they say, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink:aimeeyork |

No, it isn't a waste of time. Now we can refer people looking for cheap yorkie puppies to this thread and show them what kind of breeders they can buy their puppies from. Let's face it, a rescue female with no papers and a male, with, I am going to guess, papers that aren't AKC, aren't going to bring in the big bucks from puppy buyers or much "profit" for either of these knowlegdable, reputable "breeders." |
