| No such thing as a Teacup Yorkie if you check out a reputable breeder. the smaller the dog the bigger the price tag and the bigger your vet bills because there will be health issues. If you love animals and really have your heart set on a Yorkie and wanna budget, get in touch with your local Yorkie rescue. Maybe one of the members on here would be able to suggest something in your area. Bad breeders and puppy mills produce teeny weeny doggies, don't do it |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | There is a saying; if you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet. $250 is a very very low price. If that is all you can afford to pay for a pet, whether it be a shelter or a rescue, it begs the question if you can afford the ongoing care for even a healthy rescue. Have you looked at the ongoing annual costs to care for a dog? Annual shots, regular vet visits, heartworm meds, vaccines, etc. Yorkies can be and often times are more expensive in their health care needs. What is the monthly budget you can afford to care for your dog? Anything less than $50 a month is not enough. This budget covers food, regular vet visits and shots. It hopefully provides for an emergency fund if your dog becomes ill. My advice to new pet owners of whatever breed they get, is to a) get pet insurance and or b) Buy a savings bond to help cover emergencies, most importantly prior to the purchase of a pet. This will provide you with some security regarding the health care needs of your dog

The cost to purchase a Yorkie up front is just the beginning! Yorkies are an expensive breed to raise for all the reasons mentioned above. I don't think enough people research all these factors. Too many spend a lot of time in trying to find the smallest one they can find!

Senior Yorkie Talker | The lowest i got my dog was for $650 (cost was really $1000) and the breeder only knocked the price down because she could appreciate how much i put into getting a yorkie. I had been looking for 4 months and brought three books to understand if a yorkie was right for me due to the maintenance. Also she was impressed how much i knew about dealing with a yorkie from the information i read. I also kept in contact with this breeder throughout my experience to get advice because i did not want to get my baby from a puppymill. Long and behold she gave me Brooklynn Kouture for $650. I still call her once a week and we have the best relationship. Also i drove 3 hours to get her and bring her home. You just have to ask yourself how important is your baby to you. Cutting Corners usually mean a HUGE VET BILL LATER! P.S. Thanks Rachel ( the breeder) |

| They've all pretty much said everything there is to say. Take your time and good luck. Try not to focus on the price you're looking to spend, look at the money that you have that you are willing to spend. Not just on the pup but in the future, too. It's not just getting the dog now that you have to worry about, but the bills that come later.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | There is no such thing as a "Teacup" yorkie, It is just something breeders (usually bad ones) say to try and sell the pups for more money. Yorkies come in different sizes and yes sometimes you do get a small one, but NEVER should they be bred. You could get a rescue for $250 but if you are looking to buy from a good breeder then I suggest changing your price range.
