Fnding a perfect puppy. I've been looking everywhere for a perfect yorkie, but no luck, I need some help. I live in the Ft.Worth area, and don't want to go too far. I'm looking for a female yorkie. Preferably a "teacup". It would be awesome if she could be $250 or under. Thanks! |
Shhhh "Teacup" is a dirty word. There are no teacups, they are just Yorkies! Some are just smaller than standard. Not likely you will find a puppy for $250. or less. Don't pay too little up front and wind up paying huge veterinary bills instead. It's sort of the pay me now or pay them later. Good luck in your search. |
If you want a dog for $250 or under....that will get you a nice rescue dog. If you want a teacup:rolleyes: that will cost you thousands. |
Well, I would just prefer a dog five pounds or under. As for the price, I know it's low, but I want one so so so bad, but unfortunately I'm on a budget. |
Do you know of a good yorkie rescue? |

Welcome to YT. I'm sure you will get alot of responses that you might not like but what your looking for is kind of impossible. First off theres no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie. Thats a term used by bad breeders to boost their prices and make their yorkies sound "special". Secondly for 250$ your best bet is to look at shelters and rescues to find a yorkie that is in need. There is TONS of them. I think they would be 500$ and under. 250$ is really pushing it. Third - NO GOOD REPUTABLE breeder would EVER sell their yorkie for 250$. There is just so much that goes into breeding that the costs add up. Thats why you see them around 1,000$. If you have your heart set on finding a yorkie puppy you need to do your research and look for a good breeder, build a relationship and pick out a puppy. I learned the hard way trying to find a "bargain" or "good deal". It ended in lots of vet bills and heartache. BE SMART!!! Get informed :) I bought my last yorkie, who was a year old. Small male already up to date on shots, and neutered for an amazing price. My breeder was amazing and that was the most important thing to me. That she will always be there for Zach and me whenever we need her!:thumbup: |

The term "teacup" is a marketing term, and not a recognized designation by the AKC. This was on another thread and it's a must read for anyone looking for a yorkie pup! The sad truth about "teacup dogs" If you find a breeder offering pups for less than 250, most likely they have cut some serious corners in their breeding program and you will be in for a lot of heart ache in the future. You may, however, find a dog that is in need of a rehome in that fee range. Do your research, take your time and good luck. Try looking on petfinder.com . I do know that there are some reputable rescues in Texas. Can't remember the name of the big one right now... |

There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie - that label is just used by shady breeders who want to take your money and give you a dog with a ton of health problems, one that will probably not live very long. If you're really serious about getting a dog, wait a bit. Save up some money and do your homework (there is a lot of good information available on this site). If you're set on a Yorkie, read the posts on this listserv and take in what you're reading. A lot of very well-informed people post here, including breeders, and you will better understand the needs of the Yorkie breed. When you're financially ready, chat with some folks here to find a reputable Yorkie RESCUE group in your area. There are so many dogs, Yorkies included, who need good homes. I've had three yorkies, all of whom have come from rescues and all of whom have been awesome dogs! |
your not going to get any type of yorkie for $250. Unless you add another zero to make it $2500. There and only there u can get a perfect one, which I don't even think exist, just like your "teacup" version. |

I lived in the burbs of Ft. Worth and travel back there frequently, the average price for a pet yorkie from a reputable breeder in the Ft. Worth area is $1,000.00 |
