| New Yorkie Mommy=) Hey everybody, I just recently joined YT and this is my first post. My boyfriend and I just went and picked up our first yorkie yesterday. (He was my birthday/anniversary present). He is the cutest little guy and a complete joy, we've had so much fun with him already. He is fifteen weeks old and 3.4 pounds and he is going to our vet tomorrow for a checkup to ensure he is all healthy =). Our baby's name is Denali. I've done a ton of research on what to expect with a yorkie and how much special care they need but i still have a couple of questions. I know that yorkies eyes water and that it can stain their coat, well one of Denali's eyes waters quite a bit (like tears) and i'm not sure what i can do to help it either water less or not stain his coat. Also we bought some nutri-cal last night but i'm not sure how often we should be giving it to him and if there are only certain times when he needs it. I couldn't figure out how to resize my pictures to attach them here but i have a couple on my profile of him. Thanks for reading! =) |

| Welcome to fur baby motherhood. I got Harley for an Aniversary/Christmas/B-day present... he has been the light of my life since. I had a huge eye watering problem with Harley, it stopped substantially when I switched food. now you probably don't want to switch your little guy right away, his stomach is fragile. But what are you feeding him? I recommend a grain free and allergen free food. There are lots of discussions on here about feeds to help pick one. Now Harley's eyes only water when he's really excited or nervous (usually when we travel) In the mean time to get rid of the tears, cause they get clumpy and hard and can pull out his hair if he scratches... put some jelly based product like vaseline or no name, on your fingers and work it out slowly. You can find that in your nearest baby isle. Harley hated me doing it... but he also hated the scratchy tear clumps. Good luck

| Welcome! Your little Denali sure is adorable!!! You will find that this is the most awesome site. I am a first time Yorkie Mom too, since November of last year. I can not imagine my life without Miki now. She goes everywhere with me, including work everyday (we own our own business) ~ I've even had her in church once for a funeral. She travels so well in her purse. She's pretty tiny ~ 2 lbs at 11+ months old. It's hilarious when I go grocery shopping...because I know a couple of people that work there, & they want to see Miki everytime I'm in the store, so now many of the other employees know she's in the purse & want to see her too. LOL Wishing you lots of puppy kisses & love from your new furbaby! |

| Denali is a cutie! Welcome to YT! I have to tell you the toy he has in his picture is my Rosie Girl's favorite toy! I have to buy then before they sell out and keep them "in stock" at my house. She will chew on them until the strings come out. We then throw it away and she gets very upset. So, we go to the stock pile and get another one and all is happy again! I know you will enjoy your new baby!! |
