That's what I thought they were too, but I can't find the source. Also there are (knocks on wood hard) none in my kitchen. They only show up every couple of days... YUCK. We're starting to conclude that they must be coming in from the neightbors.

| ![]() Since you've never seen them before, one of your neighbors has probably done an extermination and that is what has driven them into your apartment. They do sound like your basic cockroach. They can survive in a sealed rubbermaid container, but they cannot get into one. So if you keep his food inside it and sealed up, it will be safe. They say that in nuclear war, cockroaches are the only species that will survive..I believe it...LOL As far as grain foods, she is correct. All foods have little eggs in them and will hatch if stored on shelves long enough. I store all flour and the like in the freezer to prevent that. I keep all pet foods in the large clear rolling sealed containers. You can carry cockroach eggs into your home on potatoes (keep them in the refrigerator to keep from hatching) and in paper grocery bags and cardboard boxes (they lay eggs in the glue) and the warm temperature of a home versus the cold temperature of a warehouse will cause them to hatch. So, all greenies, if given the choice of paper vs plastic, if you choose paper, throw the bags out. You're probably going to have to fight until you move. When you do move, try packing all your stuff into one moving van. And just before you close the doors, bomb it and close it up tight. We did that when we moved from LV to eliminate all the black widows (Las Vegans know what I'm talking about). Hopefully, bombing everything at once will kill all the eggs and capsules. Good Luck!

| ![]() YUCK. well this sucks. essentially it means I'm stuck with the little *&$!ers. I didn't throw out his food, thinking seeing I didn't see anything in it, thus it should be safe. Should I throw it out and start fresh... or would it just be wise to throw out whatever I have left when I move and start clean. I'm thinking it's more likely to be a cockroach (which absolutely gives me the creeps), I also just looked at a picture and I think that's what they are... EWWWWW...but at least if it's not a grain bug then I know my food is safe (most of my food is stored in rubbermaids.) That and I haven't seen any in the kitchen. The little creepers keep showing up every 5 days or so, which really makes me think that they're coming from the wall. I'm not moving in one truck, cause I'm just moving down the road, but I'm not using card board boxes (I have about 20 rubbermaids) so I guess my plan will be to Javex (bleach) everything as it leaves. YUCK. Can the little buggers get in my couch and chairs and stuff? Should I be concerned? The only main furniture that is coming with us are our two arm chairs (on fabric and one leather) and my matress. everything else is machine washable, and will be freshly washed upon moving. BLECH. When I'm packing, if I sterilze the rubbermaid and sterilize everything in it, they shouldn't be able to get in right? I don't want to transport the little buggers to my new place. (Ok I'm really itchy now... this is sooooo grosss... can you tell I'm scared of bugs).

| ![]() This is what a grain beetle looks like. They are very tiny. If you have something maybe 3/4 to an inch long then I'd say cockroach! ![]()

| ![]() See this is the thing... they don't have antenas... but the rest of thier bodies kinda look like that... they are almost like a cockroach/grain bettle hybrid God, maybe they bred, haha ok at least I can find some humor in this mess... Blech. Next time I see one, I'm going to take a picture, if I can stop screaming long enough.... the task will be catching it without succumbing to the urge to kill it. Thanks for all the info... I hope I can eliminate them... but man have I ever got the most uncontrolable itching feeling, and I'm not even at my apartment!
