So glad that you were there so the little guy didn't get hit by a car. You are an angel. I hope you find his owner...but, if not them hopefully he has a new forever home. |

So make sure to have your end covered well. There may be a time limit that you can legally wait and look for the owners... i do not know, but just in case check it out. Someone else mentioned that he may have been used as a stud... because of the excessive marking... i did think the same thing. Anyways, save yourself the aggravation . He is cute... be honest .. are you being so tempted to keep him in your pack? he is so cute, i would not blame you if you want to :D XOXO |

I have an almost 6-month-old female in my home and feel it is important that I get them both fixed asap because I am having to keep them separated to ensure that nothing happens. Yes, I do look down on the owner for not chipping, not neutering, and not having their dog wear a collar. As of now, no one has posted a CL ad or called the shelter looking for their dog. I will keep him for 2 weeks but after that I will be getting him fixed and re-home him. If the owner thinks they can do anything after two weeks of searching... good luck! |

Small Dog Found I did not specify what type of dog because yorkies are popular and I do not want a person claiming him if he is not theirs. I did post this ad in anger, so I may go back later and post it a little differently. Maybe I should just drop him off at the shelter. Would this make you feel better about me? |

I am not taking care of him to keep him for myself. I will be searching for his owner and will otherwise re-home him to a family that will properly care for him :) |

I think your anger made you see things differently. We all can see that you ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING ! And you will keep doing it . We can all understand your anger... I my self have posted ads on CL that get flagged and removed for no reason and had to re-post ... I believe that was the intention of the "alert" to re-post. Be assured that we all know that you are doing your best and will DO THE RIGHT THING as you have DONE SO FAR ! Lets pray you will find the owners and the story will be very different from what you pictured... they will explain. And if it never happens, from your hands he will go to the very best hands possible ! And you will feel good and be recognized for what you done, specially by this little one who can not speak for him self ... Blessings ! ;) XOXO |
lol i LOVE you CL post its so to the point |

I understand that you are angry about this little guy being out and roaming around but I have to say something in defense of how you found him~please don't take this wrong. If you read the article in the link that I posted it discusses Xenophobic behaviors in lost pets. What is says is that some dogs are predisposition to this type of behavior and will give the appearance of being neglected. In reality they are just lost and frightened. I've seen and had dog that have been neglected and they were in much worse shape then this little guy. There are plenty of people who claim to be animal lovers but really do not know all there is to taking care of a dog. They do not know about dentals (like we all do), that neutering is best for their dogs, chipping etc. They just are not educated as well as all of us. I also understand that if you look for his owner there is a legal amount of time that it must be done. If you already called the shelter they can tell you specifically what that amount of time is in your area. It might only be a week~then you could have him neutered and a dental done. Your other option would be to turn him over to a rescue in your area and that expense and also the responsibility of finding a good home would not fall upon you. :) It will cost you several hundred dollars to do a neuter, dental, microchip, blood tests (HW and fecal) and vaccines for this little guy. You might consider YTNR who I believe has fosters in the WA area that might be able to help you. If you do decide to take this route let me know and I would be willing to help. Its a huge responsibility to find a good home when trying to rehome a dog. To do it properly and assure that he goes to a FOREVER home that will treat him well (like your own ;)) there should be vet checks and a home visit which might be impossible being a private person and not a rescue. If I called someone (not rescue) and they said I want to come and look at your home I would tell them to take a leap~ya know. :) I'm NOT trying to discourage you from attempting to take on all of these suggestions just putting it out there so that you are informed of how much work this could be. There are a lot of people how only are looking for a check Yorkie and will do whatever necessary to "make you believe" they are good. :( |
Was this the article that talks about the xenophobic behavior in lost dogs? Recovery Tips: Think Lost, Not Stray | Missing Pet Partnership I think the legal limit before a found dog is considered "yours", and there fore you are legally allowed to have them spayed/neutered varies with each area. In Forsyth County, it's only 72 hours! The shelters in your area will tell you. Poor little guy. No matter what the circumstances that led up to him being on the street yesterday, at least he is in safe hands right now. |

I will definitely think about a rescue when it comes time. I am still searching for his family. |

I think the owners have been found. I should be happy... but I'm really upset. They are oblivious to the needs of a dog and even have an unspayed female at home... She wasn't even excited that I had him. She said "Oh I'll be over in the next half hour..." Grrr... I knew I wasn't going to keep him, but I was hoping he'd at least go back to a good home :( She will be here soon... I will update afterwards. |
