Thank goodness you were there to help this little guy! He is sooooo cute and looks just precious. I have a couple of small belly bands from YHR that I'd be happy to give to you (they're lightly used but clean). I've used them on my 4 1/4 pound Tate so they should fit this little man. And I have some incontinence pads - I could send a few of those, too. If you're interested, pm me with your address and I'll put them in the mail this afternoon. Thank you! Bonny |

So glad you stopped to help him. He may be marking out of desperation, trying just to claim some part of the world for himself. He may stop after he feels a bit more secure. My 13 year old neutered male started marking furiously when I added 3 girls to our pack. I think he felt his space was invaded by aliens and was trying to let them know they were in 'his house'! The microchipchip issue: All newer scanners will pick up a chip, but can only read the info of one from the same manufacturer. Some will id a chip, and can tell you the type (what company). Most shelters have universal scanners that can read all chips, regardless of who made them. Sometimes chips can migrate, so be sure the vet does a full body scan if one is not detected in the neck/shoulder region. My vet has both a universal and the one from the company they use (HomeAgain). Some companies will allow you to register or at least list chips from different companies too, so if you purchase a HomeAgain chip but your other pet has a 24petwatch, you can list them both with each company. I would talk to the owners should they come forward... get a sense of what kind of owners they are... maybe they have given up hope of finding him and moved on, and may even want you to keep him or find him a home. Peek a Boo was a runner. He ended up at the Humane Society twice, and I contacted the last owner and she said the 2nd time they decided just to leave him there! Obviously NOT Yorkie people! If I can help you in any way, just let me know... :) |

He's definately a cutie pie. He didnt look that matted to me. It looked like he probably ran through some high grass/brush that got tangled in his fur. It especially would have looked like he did in the pic if the grass/brush was wet. My dogs have looked like that just running around the back yard. I know your upset with the owners for not having a collar on him and he was running loose, but please dont prematurely pass judgement on his owners without knowing what happened. The kind of mats this little dog had did not look like neglect to me. Yellow teeth just means he's due for a cleaning-not necessarily neglect or abuse. He looks on the healthy side to me and obviously someone loves him. |
I completely agree with what she said above....my friend had a yorkie who she let out in the backyard (without her collar because she had just had a bath) and didn't realize there was a tiny hole in the fence where her pup could get out. Usually her baby would go outside, play for a bit then come back to the door but when she never came back she realized her pup was gone. She was a WONDERFUL owner and the loss of her missing yorkie devastated her. Perhaps these people didn't know to go on craigslist and are just searching different animal shelters? Have you placed flyers in the local vet officers and/or shelters?? I definitely think its important to try every avenue in finding this baby's home, best of luck to you! That's great you're taking such wonderful care of him! |

Until you recieve the donated belly bands..you can use a disposable baby diaper. I use them all the time on my male. They are easy, clean, and work great. And if you use them...don't bother with the little diaper straps. Just use a long piece of duct tape. Works great. I can send pictures if you need to see how to put it on. My male at 5 and 1/2 lbs wears a size 1...so you might need a newborn size for this little guy. Good luck finding his family!. |
they also make doggy diapers that look like baby diapers. I also have a band that I bought at Petsmart that is jean and I put the little pads you can buy in it. I hope you find the owners, but I am happy that you are taking care of him too. |

I hope it is the case of an unplanned escape, happy reuniting because of a chip. BUT I fear it could be the other side of this. Please keep us updated, he deserves a soft, loving home that just adores him to bits and I am sure you will help him get there. Mary & Mia |
So glad that poor little guy is no longer on the streets, no matter the reason or what he escaped from. I hope the owners can be found and that it's just a case of the dog getting dirty and matted from running around and not neglect. Poor little thing. Does micro chipping hurt? I had Mya chipped when she was spayed, but Oliver is not. Both wear collars and tags, but I think I should get Oliver chipped as well. Is it ok to do it when they aren't put under? He's really good with shots, Mya is my suck, lol. |
