| Yorkie help needed!! I am the proud owner of a 12 week old yorkie. Maybe some of you can help me with my problem. Do you keep food in your yorkie's crate overnight? during the day while you are at work? Lately, I have been keeping food in the crate overnight and my puppy has had an accident every time I do that. However, I teach school and will be gone all day once school starts back. I cannot NOT feed my dog during the day. Any suggestions? I know hypoglycemia is a concern for this particular breed. |

| Have you thought about an x-pen? A 12 week old can't go all day without food. If you use an x-pen, you can have room for pee pad.

| I keep food in an ex-pen for my baby while i'm at work all day but at night in his crate no. Just make sure he eats enough during the day and enough at dinner time and he'll be completely fine when he goes to bed But definitely keep his food out during the day, mine doesn't eat enough as it is and sometimes have to feed him by hand. Congrats on your new little one!

| You can use any you like....from Walmart, Petsmart, etc. I prefer plastic over metal.

| When Hammer was younger, we used a baby playpen. I was unable to come home during the day so I kept some in there for him. But I never put food in his crate at night. |

| Yes; I understand the hypoglycemia concerns but I wouldn't leave food in the crate overnite while you are trying to housetrain. I make sure Lucy has a little evening snack about 9:00 like a few cheerios before bed so I know she has a little something in her stomach before morning.

| The x-pen is great idea. When Pippin was a baby I went to Walmart and bought a couple of cheap plastic tarps. I spread one out and put the x-pen on top of the tarp. There was plenty of room for a pee pad, bed and water dish. When I came home I would take the tarp outside and hose it down, and put the fresh one down. I never had accidents leak onto the floor or carpet. We put his x-pen in front of the tv and left cartoons on for him. To this day he loves to watch TV. |
