| Thank you yorkie talk for saving keoki Today was a scary day but I have yorkie talk and Wylies mom to thank for helping me recognize Keoki was choking and getting him the help he needed. This morning my furbaby was burying a bisquit and he ran down the stairs snorting which I thought was funny ( he usually snorts when he is excited ) but then I realized he was gasping for air and clawing at his nose- I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO PANICKED AND SCARED!!!! Thank God for Yorkie talk and the article Wylies mom posted because I knew he was chocking when I saw him clawing his face- I tried the heimlich maneuver and it didn't work- it's a little scary on a little dog ( scared to break something ) and we BOOKED to the vet- by the time we got there ( he was clawing the whole way ) it seemed to have passed. The vet looked at him and said he would be ok. I feel blessed and grateful to this website for giving me the information I needed to know what was happening and what to do. I am so happy and grateful my baby boy is ok no more big bisquits for my furbaby! |

| How awful! I'm so happy you stayed calm enough to drive to the vet. That is so unbelieveably frightening. There are some CPR animal classes offered at the Red Cross. I've been meaning to sign up so I'd be prepared. Thank goodness Keoki is ok. I'm glad Wylie's mom posted the information that helped you recognize your baby was choking.

| Thank goodness he is okay. I've been there with Hot Rod. He was having a hypoglycemiic and I gave him a forumla by Lunas Mom ( I believe). There is very valuable information on here!

| How scary! I'm glad you were able to think quickly! I've read through the heimlich maneuver for dogs, but don't know if I'd be able to do it under that much stress

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You reacted so perfectly - great job ! Your quick thinking and action probably saved his little life -- bc even if the Heimlich didn't dislodge it, the action may have moved it just enough for it to move and be swallowed. I agree, doing the Heimlich is very scary, isn't it? You have to do it way harder than you think to get a strong *forceful* whoosh of air. I'm so glad you read how to do the Heimlich. Marcel is very happy and sends puppy kisses to you and Keoki. And also a high-paw to Keoki !
