| Donbar Yorkies - New Beginnings 30 years Later Donbar Yorkies – New Beginnings 30 years Later Hello everyone. For those of you who have been in the Yorkie world a number of years, you might remember the name Donbar from the Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania area shows. My name is Barbara Bellini, formerly Barbara Austin, and breeder exhibitor of Donbar Yorkies. I finished 7 champions during that time, several being Champion’s ‘Donbar Quarterflash’, ‘Donbar Enjoli’, ‘Donbar Emeraude’, and ‘Donbar Norell’. I assumed my maiden name, Bellini, when my life fell apart due to a divorce when I had to give everything up, and spent the ensuing years going to college to earn my bachelor’s degree in order to support myself. You might still see Donbar on some old pedigrees that carry ‘Ch Tiffany’s Storm Warning’ as ‘Donbar’s Melody of Tiffany’ is Storm’s granddam on the sire’s side. Melody was out of my ‘Ch Donbar Quarterflash’ who was out of ‘Ch Mayfair Barban Yoohoo’ and ‘Ch Donbar Norell’ and linebred on ‘Ch Gaytonglen’s Teddy of Mayfair’. ‘Song of Joy’ was out of ‘Ch Carnaby’s Rock N Roll’ and ‘Tiffany’s Rapunzel’. My family has finally convinced me that it’s time to have yorkies in my life again, and a special thanks goes to my very special friend Bev Ferguson who referred me to Rama yorkies here in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, where I currently reside, since she had nothing available. I immediately fell in love with a brood bitch they had available and bought from them when I saw her length of leg and neck which I like on a yorkie, not to mention her soundness. After much deliberation on whether or not to keep the Donbar name or use a new one, everyone seems think I should keep the Donbar prefix, so her name will be Rama’s Suki at Donbar. She carries Estugo and Tiffany bloodlines. Not being familiar any more with who’s who in the yorkie world and bloodlines, you can imagine my astonishment and delight to discover that Suki goes back to Storm, and as a result, she goes back to my old bloodlines, and I find that incredible to have found a bitch going back to my old bloodlines after all this time! Wow! I made this discovery before I actually had Suki as I was poking around the internet by coming across ‘Hylan Yorkies of Texas’ who had a picture and pedigree posted of her ‘Ch Tiffany’s Casey’, a son of Storm and showing my Donbar lineage. Thank you Anne! Anyway, I look forward to seeing you all at the shows, and to hopefully being in the ring again eventually. A special thanks goes to Bev, Raul Sr, and Raul Jr, as I have bugged the life out of them with questions trying to come up to speed on what’s been happening in the Yorkie world during the past 30 years. I’m also delighted to see the success many of my old friends have attained in producing top chanpions over the years. Way to go! |

YT 1000 Club Member | Barbara welcome back to the world of Yorkies. As it turns out my Friday is partially from your lines. At least on her Sires side starting at the 4th generation. I would so love to pick your brain.

| Wecome to YT and welcome back to the world of yorkies. Wishing you much success in your future endeavours. I do not show, I have owned a couple of Cockers who were shown to championship, and maybe someday will do the same with a Yorkie. Looking forward to hearing and seeing your journey back into this field.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Hello and welcome to YT. You have an impressive story to tell. I also live in NC about 3 1/2 hours away from you. I am planning to attend my very first dog show ever on September 6 at the fair grounds in Raleigh. I am very much interested in learning more about the this wonderful breed. If you can, you should come out. Hope to see you there! Congrats on getting back in the Yorkie family. I have two pet furbabies named Emma and Dawson. YorkieProud IF YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY, JUST LOOK IN THE FACE OF YOUR YORKIE AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY!! |

| Raleigh KC - 6 Sep Some friends of mine may be coming down from Maryland for the weekend shows, and if they do, I'm hoping to get up there. Be glad to help however I can. I remember quite clearly when I was an absolute beginner. Best advice I can give you as a beginner is to see if your local kennel club offers conformation handling classes and enroll when you get your yorkie. Sometimes a professional handler living in the area, will also offer handling classes. Then take your yorkie to matches to get them use to the environment and having a judge go over them. Practice at home setting them up on a table, and have someone check their bites, feel legs, etc. Practice the different gaiting motions in the ring. Some judges do down and back, other prefer a triangle. Lots of Luck, Barb |
