| ![]() well shortley after i posted last, my vet (who did surgery)showed up with meds in hand. she said hows maddie--i said hurting from all she went thru. she says is she here, i said yes. i picked maddie up and was holding her and she walked over an looked at her tail and tummy, and said things look good--and Mis im so sorry( she calls me mis) and then it all came out---------(bare with me) i said you should have called me right away yesterday when you all figured out you guys screwed up instead of me hearing it from the interns--she say i know this is all my fault and i take full responsiblility. i said you disappointed me and have lost all trust. im so sorry mis--- i said if you were to tired to be doing the surgery you should have said something and we could have rescheduled==she said no i wasnt tired i just dont check animals in and i shouldnt have checked maddie in (BULL shes has checked my pets in b4). she says all the pets that come in first thing in the morning are all there for spays or neuters, she said i asked you tail and spay right?? I said NO you didnt--i would have stoped you right there---she said well i thought i said that to you--i said NO you didnt--i said its in her file shes spayed-dont you people look at the files prior to doing things? she said well once we got into her tummy and couldnt find a uterous-i told the girls that i didnt remeber spaying this dog---then it hit her--mis rescued this dog and she was spayed b4, and THEN she looked at the file!!! i said thats not a excuse-this should have never happened and i was pissed and still am that maddie had to go thru somethng that wasnt nessasary and you could call me yourself and here a day later you finally show up. she says i know mis and its all my fault. i said and what the hell were you thinking to put her under again to do her teeth==that was frickin stupid to submit her to more after she just had surgery-you should have called me right away and told me what happened-the dental could have waited-she didnt have much tater anyway.

| ![]() she really didnt say much after that except its my fault, im sorry and i take full responsibilty over and over---she acted somewhat different though- i dont know if she was/is scared or what. i told her it still doesnt fix whats happened and she said i know mis and im sorry. her kids where in the car so she left, saying im sorry, to the point of tears. she knows how pizzed i was/am. i wanted to say more, but you know when your mad and you forget to say everything you want--well that was me. so this is where it sits for the moment-in mymind nothing changed-angers me it took her this long and that it happened to begin with. i dont know if she felt bad or if she was just worried about what i may do. but like i said it still dont fix anything--she waited to long to contact me-

| ![]() also Maddie is doing ok, still veery very sore. her nub is whats giving her the most grief--ive alwys been told its really hard on dogs to have thier tails done when they get older--but this was something that needed fixed-so there wasnt a choice--i know in a few more days she will be acting better. but shes playing me "i think"-all day yesterday i had to bring her food and water-to eat and drink while laying down in her bed while i was at work--like she hurt to bad to get up --(dont get me wrong i know how sore she is, poor baby) but last night when i got home she went right over to her dish and ate and drank and i took her outside and she tried to chase the kitty ![]() after typing out all of this i think back to last night and when my vet left after talking to me--wondering to myself if she was so upset because of what happened or shes worried---i would like to think it was because of what happened--but then again if i were her= it would probably be both. Im Really Grateful for ALL your kind words and support through this ![]() Im still deciding what "all" im going to do come the first of next week. I guess its one of those things you cant believe this happened to begin with, but you want to give the person a chance to attempt to make things right, after all she is my vet of 15 years-but then when they handle it the way she did, it made things worse. it wont go without nothing being done, that much i know.

| ![]() Misty, till you decide what you are going to do, I would create a document in your computer documenting all events. e.g. arrived at vet at______ am met with______________ who checked Maddie in instructions given/received __________________ received telephone call from __________ at_________ pm conversation______ document her discomfort/pain level document all telephone calls, visits from the intern and vet conversations, time you picked her up and that you were not given any medications for her and your stress etc.

| ![]() Oh my word!....I'm so glad your Maddie is doing alright.....I don't blame you for being mad as heck about this. This is totally inexcusable, this cannot be flippantly dismissed with ridiculous excuses. To try and say that * we are all humane, we all make mistakes* is just a way as to not be held accountable. This is malpractice at it's worst. A simple check of the file would have prevented this from happening. I'm so sorry this happened......I hope you get some kind of compensation or you can resolve this to your satisfaction....Hugs to Maddie.....

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() I'm so glad that Maddie is doing better. There are just no words that can adequately describe my disgust at what happened to her. There is no excuse or reason for what happened to your baby. It was all HER responsibility to make sure everything was in order and the proper procedures were being done. You've gotten some excellent advice here on collecting information. I'm not sure what a lawyer will be able to do for you, that all depends on the laws in your state. But at the very least, you do need to file a complaint with the state, the better business bureau and any one else who will listen. The second vet sounds like a good guy. I'm so glad he was able to help your baby. Give Maddie a hug and tell her that lots of people are thinking about her.

She says she takes full responsibility, but right there is saying, well not my fault, you should have told us. This thread is making me madder and madder. I really can't believe this. I'm so sorry!

| ![]() I imagine that Vets can be like doctors when it comes to making mistakes. From my own personal doctor mishap experience . . .I have never seen the likes when it came to cover-ups, witholding information so I wouldn't find out the extent of the mistake; lack of accountability; lack of apology; flat out lies . . .and I wasn't going to sue and never did. I could go on but I won't. THAT kind of treatment angers the patient more than the actual mistake. I don't know if it's fear or arrogance or . . . what but they would have gone to any lenth to prevent me from learning the truth and no one EVER apologized or took responsibility. I had to go out of state to several specialists to find out the truth. To the vet I would say only - at least take responsibility for your actions and do not try and put the blame on anyone else's shoulders. That's just pathetic. |

| ![]() omg! Misty, I am so sorry that Maddie and your went thru this. I totally agree, the vet waited way too long in speaking with you. It should have been her priority to talk with you as soon as she realized what happened. I hope that everything will work out for you whatever course of action you decide to take. Give Maddie big kisses and gentle hugs.

| ![]() It is so scary. You made me to think about my vet. I love how modern his technology is yet the staff made small errors like losing the stool of my dog's for the exam. I think I need to see that as a red flag that they are not organized. The hard thing is that I am very picky on how the clinic looks like, how vet communicates with me, what kind of equipments they have etc. I have been to several vets in El Paso & I was not impressed with them until my current vet. More than one error is not good. I am so sorry that your grrl had to go thru hell because of the vet's error. I hope you will do something about it so that the future patients wouldn't go thru what Maddie went thru. |
