| We have had 4 cases of Rabid foxes attacking in our county so be very careful. My boss had a rabid fox get through his fence and tried to attack him while riding his lawnmower. His lab (trained hunting dog) took off after it of course and ended up being bitten (thank goodness he was vaccinated) But he is a 100lb dog..I cant imagine what a fox would do to a dog the size of a rabbit. Rabid foxes will not stalk though they will just attack so most likely he was not rabid...just hunting

| I had a similar experience when Wobie was a tiny puppy. We were walking from my seperate room accross the backyard to my mom's main house. And then a coyote crossed our path. Like you, I screamed my head off until I swooped up Wobie and got him inside. It was terrifying. I'm glad your whole pack of babies is okay, and that you "learned your lesson" like I did.

| I am so glad that you are all safe, and you reacted the way you did. Sometimes I worry that I would freeze in a situation like that. Hearing your story is a huge wake-up call for those of us who live around wildlife. We never know what will be outside our door. I am guilty of letting my dogs out and not always thinking of what may be on the deck waiting. I'm usually more worried about hawks overhead. I hope you feel better soon.

| OMG! WoW! So, so glad you are okay! And that you saved the pups! I usually need a drink after something like that happens, it's the only way I know to take the edge off my nerves! Yikes, I could use one now after reading your post!

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | WOW that is scary. I've only ever seen one fox in my neighborhood and it wasn't anywhere near my house luckily. my yard isn't fenced in and i let morgan out without a leash while i stand in the door way watching. before i let her out i do a scan of the yard for animals but you can never be sure something isn't out there lurking and hiding. I'm so glad you were able to get both babies back in the house with no harm from the fox. i dont' think he was rabid because he was actually stalking her instead of straight up attacking the dogs and/or you. Regardless its still really scary because they are so much bigger then our dogs and they can carry diseases. I think mange is also effecting many foxes. You did a great job! a very scary situation but your protective instincts kicked in and you got those babies out of there.

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | How scary. We've had several rabid fox attacks in Metro Atlanta. We've also had bear sightings in our neighborhood. You just never know what you might run in to in your own back yard. I'm glad you and your babies are safe.

| We had a fox that was coming into our yard too and it was mangy and disgusting looking with a thin tail and very boney. In NJ foxes (?) are the number 1 carriers of rabies!!! It scared the heck out of me too (thank goodness no dogs were out at the times I saw it). It hasn't come around now in a while - I think it must be dead, that's how BAD he looked. Fox are usually beautiful, not this one! I'm glad you didn't have a problem with your fox. Watch out for raccoons too. My son was attacked by a raccoon once when he was putting out the garbage one night. It pulled the sock right off his foot.

| Well done in a crisis! Over the years, I myself have scared off many many foxes but they have usually been in captivity i.e. bars and other animal gatherings rather than in the wild. I don't have to go to such extremes as you. Generally just sitting quietly or being myself is sufficiently repellent enough to clear my general perimeter of predators. *sigh*
