Congrats on your bunnies, and I completely understand your mom's position. Some people are just used to the typical "dog" which we all know...yorkies aren't typical, they're special.

I had a house bunny once that was potty trained and ran around the house. Man oh man, was that thing a HANDFUL! He was probably worse behaved than my yorkie haha. He ate EVERYTHING! His favorites were my UGG boots and flip flops. He also liked our phone cables, my mom was on the phone and he ate the wire and it disconnected her We even had a harness and a leash and he would go for walks outside. Eventually we tied him up outside, but sadly, he must have freaked out over something and got all tangled and died RIP B-Rabbit.

He loved it outside, he would only be out there for an hour to play, then he would come back inside, its not like he lived out there, my goodness.

You tied a rope around a bunny and left him alone. That is just abuse. Just because bunnies aren't dog doesn't mean they don't deserve same respect. Rabbits are very fragile creatures and their bones break very easily. If you tied up a bunny, there is no question what killed him. I sincerely hope you understand not to do this thing again. You can break a bunnies spine just from lying them on their back if they try and kick free. I hope you now know not to do this cruel thing. I have nothing left to say on the matter and I would like thread to go back to about responsible yorkie ownership.

He didnt have a rope AROUND him. He was wearing a bunny harness and there was a small string hooked to it, it wasnt dragging or anything. He had a wire that went through the whole yard with a pully so he could run throughout the yard. Sounds like abuse to me Obviously I'm cruel to animals, thats why I'm going into the field of zoology.

Actually yes it sound like cruelty. Harnesses are very bad for bunnies because of their fragile spines so putting it on a pulley was just plain stupid. I'm assuming you were just ignorant and not animal abuser, just uneducated. I was just shocked when I heard that happen to bunny, I apologize for term abuse, it was just ignorance. I find this all highly distressing I would very much like this thread to go back on topic.

I'm thinking of names for my bunnies...I like old fashioned names like Nora, Bess, Poppy etc...Suggestions?

That's all I can say, is wow. You are either a 40-year old posing as a teenager, or you are the most mature, responsible, thoughtful 17-year old on the planet. I'll go with the later . You have already been through so much with your first pup, and to have the maturity and willpower to wait because you know that's best for a puppy is just amazing. It will be worth the wait and you'll have the best furbaby ever!

Your mom must be soooo proud. And tell her you didn't turn out this way by accident (good job mom)!!

Disney, remember your growing pains. We've seen you mature on this board with our very own eyes. And you've done it well. Remember tolerance. Deep breath.

Anyway. I think the book Watership Down is probably the best source for rabbit names that could be found. That is one of my favorite books. My daughter, even though she is in her mid 30s, and I use some of the terms in our everyday language without thinking about it. Whenever we see rabbits out in the evening grazing it is automatically called silflay. Stuff like that. It's like the rabbit bible.
