Did I buy a yorkie? Help needed in San Diego 3 Attachment(s) Hey guys. I put a deposit down on a yorkie and when I met her I thought that she was alot older because of how big she was. Then the lady kept delaying giving her to me, by about a total of 2.5 weeks. Now I have her and she is huge. She is 3.6 lbs at 9 weeks. Her parents only looked at about 7 lbs. I still have pics of them. I'm concerned because she had some other bigger dogs there that she was mating in the same area. I paid $600 for her and she does have papers. Is there anyone in San Diego that doesn't mind seeing her for a professional opinion on her? Here are pics of her and her parents. |
She looks all yorkie to me. Maybe she is just gonna be on the bigger side. Chachi ended up bigger than his parents. |
She is adorable! Looks like a yorkie to me. These critters come in all sizes. |
Can anyone estimate how big she will be? She's off all the charts I've looked at. |
Your supposed to triple the 8 week weight that gives you some idea of what it will be. |
She looks all yorkie to me, and she's a doll. |
It's just that when I put my deposit down the breeder said she would be 4-5 lbs full grown. |
puppy She will no doubt be about 10 pounds and have down ears..but at $600 it is a fair price for a Yorkie of those qualities. As to the parents, you only have the breeders word that the paretns are who she says they are..you would not want to do a DNA on a $600 pet. I would be more concerned with her health guarantee and temperment. Ask to speak with the vet and get a referrence on the breeder. Puppy will no doubt make a nice pet, if you want a bigger girl. Best wishes, she looks very sweet. |
She looks adorable! And VERY much yorkie! I think she will be a very healthy big yorkie! Ig she gets over 12 lbs she could be what you call a silky terrier - looks ezactly like yorkies but are bigger. The dog to the right looks like it has something mixed in it - maybe scotch terrier or something, but that could as well be the cut. But scotch terriers are bigger than yorkies, so that might explain her size. 600$ for a cutie like that is a very fair price and I hope you'll love her as much as the rest of us love our dogs, pure bred or not :) |
She's adorable. I bet she will be about 10lbs. Stewie is bigger than both of his parents. You have to look @ the earlier ancestory, too :p |
1 Attachment(s) she look yorkie to me.... and i must say that you got a deal at $600..... especially for a girl, usually breeders charge more for females..... my boy is probably around 13 lbs ..... i still think he is small, and i love that he is more "rough and tumble" and not as delicate as the standard ro smaller yorkies.... i would deffinatly say taht she will probably end up at least 10 lbs I dont have any pictures of me holding toby so you can get a look at how big he is, but this is my fiance's arm.... so sitting he is about that tall, hope this helps As time goes on i guarantee you that you wont mind her size one bit, but you really did get a good deal |
Also, there are people on here who have had 3lb puppies @ 8 weeks and had their babies be about 6 or 7 full grown. Some have growth spurts @ diff times. Stewie was 3.5lbs @ 16 weeks and is now between 7lbs & 8lbs. |
Well the problem really is that she intimidates my other yorkie Brandy (one of the puppies eensor and I saved a month ago) and she's only 1.7 lbs. She HATES Cosmo jumping on her and is VERY agressive torwards her. I think anyday she would rather be with a human than another dog. It's been a while and they're still not getting along very well. I really think Cosmo's size is the issue. |
yorkierose: You're right about the down ears. She was very adiment about keeping them taped up at only 9 weeks. |
