| Loki has had food related diahrea and giardia. We are experts. :-) For food related give rice and chicken (more rice than chicken). According the vet it was OK for Loki to fast for 12 hours (he's 8 pounds). I would skip the chicken broth. Give LOTS of water. If it doesn't clear up soon head to the vet. They will do a fecal smear and see if it is something like giardia. I have NO idea where Loki got giardia from when he had it because he is walked on a leash at all times. The vet said they can get it from the sidewalk even, and then lick their paw. You never know. It was SUPER gross though, I KNEW something was wrong. If it looks slimy, egg whitey, liquidy or mucusy head to the vet monday morning or sooner if she gets lethargic - could be worms, giardia, or something equally icky. If it looks normal in color but it's just soft, just try the rice - it will probably clear up. Also, the vet can do a fecal smear and still give good drugs even if it's only from food. Basically doggie pepto with a little extra to help clear out whatever is causing it. If it lasts more than a few days they can get dehydrated. Keep an eye on her and it will probably clear up before you can call the vet.

| How long ago did she poop? And when was the last time that you fed her and what did you feed her? Seems to me like she scarfed down her kibble because she was hungry...you said you had only given her chicken broth and then introduced her food again after 18 hours, right?

| White rice is fine, even the instant kind. I would only give a little, and make sure you take her out in the middle of the night (set an alarm) or you will wake up to a mess. I gave Loki a little bit of rice at a time, maybe 4 times a day. I don't know if that is right, though. I just didn't want to give his tummy too much at once.

| I fed her about four hours ago, just her normal kibble Royal Canine for puppies and a few cheerios (3) which she always gets for treats. She was on chicken broth yesterday and I gave her food back today but i think it was too soon. I have given her pedialyte in the last 15 mintues and am going to introduce white rice tomm, but will have to run to the store for some chicken. I am going to call the vet on monday but wanted to know what i could do in the mean time so we didn't have to spend the evening in the emerg vet. She seems perfectly normal other then the poops, which are normal color, have a little clear stuff at the end when she is all done, and they smell horible. Just really soft poops. It has been going on since thursday late. but no tired or anything, her gums look good still pink, playing fine, and going to get water.

| The rice is more important than chicken at first. Start with rice, then gradually add chicken and then slowly go back to kibble. The rice will make her feel full without being too hard on her tummy. The protein in the chicken is a little harder to digest so start with rice.

| Agree with Erin, absolutely, if you have rice, give it to her NOW!! Don't add the chicken broth because I am assuming it's canned chicken broth you used, right? That's no good, has too may preservatives and sodium and seasonings that could upset her tummy more. Also, no cheerios, they are high in fiber (fiber makes us poop and it may make Lexi poop more too). Stay off her kibble until she's completely better. Most importantly, make sure she's drinking her water. PLease, please keep us posted.

| give her a little rice this evening if you can to bind her up a little bit before bed time and hopefully she won't poop in the middle of the night. Remember don't use any salt or butter in the rice when you make it-just plain ole' rice and water...

| Is it minute rice? I usually boil the water in a pyrex measuring cup in the micro and then add the rice. No need to put the rice in the microwave. That sounds like a mess! Yuk!

| The only other suggestion I have, is, if she keeps pooping, give her a fourth to a half tsp. of pepto bismol. My vet swears by that stuff and I give it to Maddie when she becomes ill with an intestinal problem. Good luck...keep us posted on how she's doing! |

| please take her to the vet today...emergency room. I don't think you should wait another day, pooping every hour-what could she possibly have left to poop. Better to be safe...please keep us posted. I thought about Lexi all night last night. I don't let Louie have the runs for more than 1 day and then I take him to the vet.
