| Hey Folks! We own a 2 year old, 13 pound yorkie/silkie mix named Bogart. Last week we brought home number 2 son, a 12 week old yorkie. The posts here helped ease our apprehensions against getting a second yorkie. It's been a blast! Bogart is a submissive, playfull and social dog, so he's adjusted to the new puppy very well. He plays a little too rough sometimes, so I have to break it up often. Bogart's barking during play is really bad. I'm going to try the coins-in-a-can trick mentioned in another thread here. (How will correcting one dog like that effect the other? Will the puppy think he's being corrected for play, or doing nothing wrong?) It's becoming clear that both of these pups are going to need more than just the bare basics of obedience training, or they are going to gang up to take over the house. Britster, you should know that my wife and I love Jackson's youtube channel. We also loved the name Jackson, so your Jackson has a namesake in Ohio. We didn't mean to be copycats, but Jackson was the only name on both of our "possible puppy names" list. (He was Jasper for half a day, but we changed our minds) |

| Hi and welcome to YT. Congrats on your Jackson. I'll link your post to Brister, Brit will love that you named your puppy after her Jackson--he is truly a cool dog. As far as the coins in the can, yes both dogs will flinch when they hear/see the can. I would suggest calling out Bogarts name and saying something like "ah-ah" when he starts to bark. Once he stops, make sure to praise and praise. Hopefully he and Jackson will make the connection. It also will get to the point that you don't even have to shake the can. When I just pick it up mine scramble. Best of luck with the 2.

| Welcome to YT! Congratulations for your new addition to the family. Bogart and Jackson -- great names. I'm sure Brit and her Jackson will be honored. Regarding the barking and growling during playtime, I wouldn't use the coins in the can. As you wrote, that might confuse the puppy and possibly excite Bogart more. Try a calm, assertive "Hey!" or "Ah, ah, ah!" to get Bogart's attention. I would supervise playtime closely for awhile and maybe sit on the floor with the two of them. Use toys or trick training (Brit's expertise) to focus the boys and encourage calmer interaction and play. |

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your little one! Wow, I am SO honored Jackson has another little puppy named after him in Ohio. How COOL is that?! 'Jackson' is a cool name... but of course maybe I'm biased. Glad you like his YouTube videos. I can't wait to see photos of your pups, and hope to see the little one grow up right here on YT.
